Masami's CAT

I assumed Masami's CAT would be the holiest of holies within Schumacher. On the contrary, the current crew seems to know very little about it. I guess that is racing: if it isn't winning races now, it is just an old car.

The video is still good to watch, as it gives a closeup view of the actual championship winning car.

Also, note that the episode is "#5", which means there may be other videos of winning cars. :D

I started watching this yesterday and was surprised at the level of access these guys were granted to this legendary car.
Apparently, they were even allowed to disassemble it.

It's exceedingly cool how their autopsy series examines the cars, and the car's they're examining. Could do without the green screen but, part of the gimmick. They've done four previous episodes and disassemble the cars in each one...

Pilot - Michal Orlowski's Schumacher Buggies

Episode 2 - Neil Cragg's B4 Buggy

Episode 3 - Marc Rheinard's Eclipse 3

Episode 4 - Lee Martin's Tamiya TRF201X

That XLS looks to be pretty well cared for. When the restoration of the 1987 Championship JJ Ultima was done I was surprised that it was in need of restoration.

If the Eclipse isn't vintage enough to garner your interest, you may still want to watch that video. It has a brief examination of the vintage Schumacher 1/12 scale racer with the folded Lexan chassis. :D

The B4 video was also interesting. **Spoiler Alert** The championship winner was pretty much a standard kit, not a heavily modified custom or an AE prototype as in previous Worlds. It ran on just 5 cells. It carried 6 for weight and balance, but was powered by 5 for smoother power delivery on the loose surface.
