Parts Bags AE Logos - what years for each logo style?

Title might be a little confusing, but I'm wondering what years each AE logo was used for parts bags.
[edit] This is pretty comprehensive list now thanks to Dangeruss, jcwrks & scr8p. It's possible some were used after they should have been expired and replaced but this is an excellent timeline.

...really blow a persons mind, the AE logo was a slot car track... and Associated updated their "Slot Car" to an "R/C Car" in 1989 8)

Date ranges for packaging is tricky because old models used old stock until it was depilated while new models got the newest packaging. I'd call the end as the year prior to the newest packaging being released.

Having said that...

This is awesome. Thanks. Kind of random but if you think about it - it helps determine when some old parts were bagged. Parts changed over the years, color, specs , etc.. so imagine you're trying to match something with your old RC10L for example.. it might me better to try to obtain a bag circa 1990 and not a replacement part from 2005 when they were still available but possibly changed. Too many words to say something simple but I'm sure you get the meaning

You're welcome.

Know what you mean, no telling how long a batch of parts was sold or how many new batches were produced over time so it makes it useful for finding era correct NIP parts for an era correct build or collection.

...but, how about a bonus round.

Anyone know what years the yellow packaging was used?

Edit: Got some dates for the yellow tags. MR-056 is for a Reedy motor brush, Reedy joined Associated in 1980 so it's entirely possible that card was being used in 1979 since Yokomo imported Associated cars back to the RC1. The second card, the newest I found was for an RC10B6 body (2016). I also found a pair of RC10T three-piece front wheels with the first tag and RC10T three-piece rear wheels with the second tag, which suggests 1991 as a transition date. ...the search continues...

Used from 1979 to 1991 (?)

Cool thread. There are two Factory Team header cards. The one in the OP is early and has Made in USA on the back. The one that came after was China.

1990 is way too early for the flag header. I hung out and worked at my LHS until I graduated in '95. The Associated section was a wall of white cards until at least '93.

It is kind of rare to find a white part in a package with a flag header.

Good catch. 👍

Ya wanna know hard... trying to find listings that show the back of the package.

So, the second Factory Team card appeared in 2000. "Made in USA" was replaced with "Made in China" in 2003. And by 2007 no country of origin was listed.

Added a picture of the second F/T card, thank you jcwrks.

I remember white 10T parts in flag packaging when the truck was still new, 91-92... I wouldn't argue the duration of time for the buggy cards to be longer but I'm having no luck finding early 90's packaging.

Edit: found a Team Truck rear shock tower with white buggy packaging so that takes it up to at least '92... making it look like '93 was the start of the flag packaging... and scr8p is right again. :P

...well now I feel special... I found this RC10L suspension kit with the limited edition bag label in my parts ;) haha. But I also found I have lots of the old black hardened spring steel e-clips, a few bags and a few sleeves. Now I don't have to use those horrible ones that came with the RC10CC and 40th.

Are you implying that there are Eclips that aren't horrible?

Dunno about azone but I'd say there are e-clips that aren't horrible... they're the ones still in the packaging. :D

Speaking of which, azone, putting the dates on the first post is awesome 👍 but looks like some got transposed.

Edit: Also made some headway on the yellow hang tags.

I'll take E-clips over bottom-loader C-clips ALLLLL DAY!

Well at least they were quality and aren't made out of recycled tin foil like the news ones and you get this...;)

Ok thanks. I fixed the original post. I definitely don't want to try to contribute something and give wrong info - better off no info at all. But it's looking good for now.

The image of the flag header card used as a sample above is for a b4/t4 part so wouldn't that stretch it's usage up to atleast 2003/2004?

It would... I wonder how azone missed that. :P :P

looking again the latest I found a flag card was for an RC18T shock tower (2004) while the RC18B shock tower (2005) used the ellipse card so, new date split for them.

Looking good indeed. "for now" being the key words... I think this is probably going to be a very fluid thread for a little while.
