Taiyo Jet Racer ( Tyco Super Turbo Hopper )

This is a Japanese version from 1986, it's a 9.6V and works well, shame about the missing lamp on one side. Also a missing mud guard on one side but I think the car looks better without the mud guards so I'll remove the one one the opposite side.

I really don't like the overdone decals on this model. All those stickers ruin the body lines...... What was Taiyo thinking ?
I want to give this car a different colour and maybe paint those grey frame pieces a different colour also. I love the white wheels though. I want a colour that shows all those body lines, aesthetics are important. I want the car to maintain a vintage look.

Any ideas what sort of colour scheme would suit this ?
I will apply some minimum decals after I paint it.

I will also be taking this car apart and re assembly. This is a 4WD with two motors and a front and rear differential. Very cool for what it was in the day.

Sorry I posted this in the wrong section, suppose to be in the Nikko Tyco forum. Maybe a mod can move it for me if needed.

I moved it for you. :)

That is really neat looking. It has some visual cues of the Tamiya Bigwig. They both came out the same year I believe.

It looks suspiciously like the Boomerang to I think. I can see the BigWig side of it. I'll have a few more pictures up of it soon. 8)

I was thinking Bigwig as well , Bigwig box art colours would look good . Please take lots of pictures of the strip down and clean up , I love seeing how these old cars were built .

The Big Wig box color does look good ! I like the coloured red orange and yellow decals on the side of the big wig. Maybe I could trim the big wig decal sheet to get those coloured strips to fit my Jet Racer. Then put some generic old Skool RC decals on the rest of the car.

I will be stripping the whole car down to the bare chassis. I'll upload the photos as I go along.

If MCI in Canada makes reproduction Big Wig decals, they could also be scaled down to 1/12 scale to better fit your buggy. I think MCI has that option.

the transmission on these type of cars were like the VW Beetle ,over designed and under powered , there's often little wear .

You can see the dual motor setup in the back and the front gearbox housing for the front differential. There is a metal shaft linking up to the front gearbox.
