Bosscat. Or?
Hi!
I got a 4wd Schumacher for $50 on a local auction site. Look at the motive on the undertray!
From googling pictures I think it´s a Bosscat.
Can anyone confirm?
Driveshafts are worn, the O-rings for both the wing and the crashback front end is kaput.
Does anything from the re-re CATs fit?

Bosscat.
The easiest way to identify a Bosscat is that the belt runs over the lower chassis plate. Previous CATs had the belt under the chassis.

Re: Bosscat. Or?
I am going to guess it is a Bosscat "Competition" because it has the carbon chassis and red motor plates. $50 is an absolute steal! Retro RC on this site will be able to tell you everything about it.

Re: Bosscat. Or?
A few re-re parts fit, but the Bosscat is the "least similar" of all the early CATs. From the SWB to ProCAT, a lot could interchange. The Bosscat was the ultimate version of the original layout before Schumacher released the CAT 2000, but it is made mostly of parts unique to the Bosscat.
The wheels fit, but the Bosscat came with 2.2 vs 2.0 of the previous CATs. JC Racing makes 2.2s that will fit. The driveshafts will fit.
The Bosscat has different shocks from the previous CATs. You can still get parts to rebuild Bosscat shocks direct from Schumacher. They are not always in stock, though.

Re: Bosscat. Or?
When I emailed Schumacher a few years ago about long term parts availability for my CAT XLS ReRe, they wrote back to say that they don't ever really discontinue parts for their older models, however they may not have every part in stock consistently (they must run small batches of older parts from time to time). You may be able to get replacements for this car directly from Schumacher, I would email them directly.

Re: Bosscat. Or?
Welcome to the rabbit hole of vintage Schumacher,
As colt has said already you have a bosscat competition that looks to be in good shape, But yours has the works rear arms and hub carriers from what I can see so either has had a works rear end conversion or was a work that had the gear box plates replaced. Either way you basically have a works spec bosscat and for $50 you stole it
Crash back and wing o-rings from the procat re re will work perfectly as will the driveshaft parts. Unfortunately none of the procat or xls drive train or suspension is interchangeable
Crashback part number is u7217
Wing o rings part number is u1247
Schumacher sell the jc racing wheels as a 2.2 option as the aero discs are well gone.

Re: Bosscat. Or?
Thanks so much for your input!
The car is now in pieces. Still needs a good clean.
I ordered some parts: driveshafts, UJ:s, belts and o-rings. All from the rere-series.
Body is from TBG.
Unfortunately I also found this: The tab holding the crashback o-rings is broken clean off on one of the uprights.
From what I can find these are not available anymore. I have not asked Schumacher, but from reading online they are very difficult to find.
Any pointers as to where to look for them?

Re: Bosscat. Or?
Someone is printing them, but I can't recall who. I saw them on this site somewhere. Maybe search "bosscat". They have 3 shock mounting positions, so they look different than the standard parts.

Re: Bosscat. Or?
Since the inner upright was broken anyway, I decided to try to fix it.
Try to save as much as possible from the broken upright, then carefully file a piece of carbon fiber to fit.
Heat up M3 nut and press into upright.
Let´s see if it holds up.
