Thanks. I started this project between Christmas and New Year's so I've forgotten most of the substeps.
Often times, I'll document a project intending to post it on the message boards at some point, then I'll start a new project and never get around to posting the prior one. I wanted to get this one up as quickly as possible so documentation wasn't a wasted effort.
I've driven the car a few times and it's a hoot.
I have a 993 in the works - similar chassis.

For my curiosity, was there a specific reason that you chose the B4 hex front? Already have it?
If starting from scratch, it'd seem better to start with something more readily available, like the Custom Works kit or something current.

Yes, I was trying to work with parts already on-hand. I had steering and caster blocks as spares for my SC10.
For the 993 build, since the 9880 B4 steering blocks are discontinued, I've switched to Traxxas 3636 (for their Bandit). The 7919
caster blocks are still available from AE so I'll use them again. Also, the remaining front suspension parts are designed to work with AE caster blocks. IIRC, the Traxxas caster blocks would require longer arms and other changes to retain camber rise, avoid bump-steer, etc. I bought two complete sets of printed parts (for two cars) which included arms so I really don't want to re-design them to accommodate different caster blocks.

I know the feeling. got a bunch of random pictures of things I've worked on and haven't had the time to write them up.

A really neat amalgam of parts from several manufacturers.
Great engineering.
And the timeless nature of the body along with the wheels, paint, graphics and lights it's just so realistic.

Back in the day, I designed and built a rear motor, straight axle, pan car for oval racing - I wanted to try something different. It featured a 4-link rear suspension and beam front axle arrangement. I spent weeks building it and raced it one time. I really didn't like the handling so I pulled the motor, electronics, shocks etc., for use in a more conventional pan car. I was a dirt poor college student a the time and couldn't afford running gear for two cars.
I was rummaging around in the attic a few months ago and found the parts for that rear motor car and one day I'll put it back together.
Scratch building is the most enjoyable part of the RC hobby for me.

Did you design the printed parts and have them printed? This is so cool, I've been wanting to cut down an old tub and do something like this.

Suspension arms are difficult for me to make in my shop so it's much easier to have them printed.
Initially, I'd planned to build an RC10DS for this car but Tamiya's 934 is very short wheelbase and I think it would be difficult to make a DS short enough to fit that body.
Also, the full size Porsche's use trailing arm rear suspension so I wanted to include that feature.
Plus, I was looking for an excuse to create a chassis from scratch.

The rain has stopped so I'm headed back to the tennis court tomorrow.
I'll be trying a new motor.
