Old School Rocket Car Build

The entry in Build of the Month has striked my interest on a new build...using some vintage Bolink/and RJ Speed parts I am going to build a rocket car that will look authentic, be purely ran by the rocket engine/engines....and hopefully run 100mph in 3.5 seconds from a standing start(on video)...stopped by a parachute...I have the rocket engine mounts coming...I haven't build the car yet...and here are some figures from an engineering friend of mine...this project will take some time...the Diamond 💎 One will be doing a very stylish 70s body/paint...this project is all I think about all day while at work

Loving it! :D

What is the initial concept of keeping it going straight?

Right now just basics..gonna need some wings but dont want ruin the look of the body, needs to look authentic 70s....I am just gonna wheel it! At this point I will spend every last dollar on this project...would love to get some students from the college to film it for a project of theirs...be so cool the footage they could get from all angles, especially the launch and the crash!

With the 1:1 cars using their bullhorns or zoomies for downforce wouldn't that be cool to have an additional downforce engine up front running out some pipes 😊

I blame RC10 for his BOTM entry and the rocket documentary they watched recently for this development. Should be interesting though. 🤔 That guy's math is way off by my calculations though...

I'm glad I could provide some form of inspiration

My plan was slightly less elaborate

Those calculations above were for Estes "F" engines...I am gonna start with 2 "D" engines if it will fit that burn for 1.7 seconds instead of the 3.5 seconds of the powerful F engines...177mph just seems like too much! 😆

Alot left to do, but here is the basic chassis setup with the dual engine holder in place....wheelbase is 12"....rear width is 6.8" with tires on...fits the body I picked out perfectly!

Don't the rocket motors shoot a charge out the front once they burn to the end?
