Clonewald GFG-10

With a couple of projects nearing completion I've been collecting parts for another. Finding a nice black chassis seems to be difficult and $$$, so this is another build where I will be taking the long way around again making an equivalent to the tub chassis.

I think I'm close to enough parts to begin this build.

Step 1, start with some excellent green fiberglass from Factory Works

The rear axles will have to wait. I'm short a couple of flanged bearings. My black front arms turned out to be a mismatched set with one inline so a NOS set is off to get hydrated. In the mean time a few more choice Factory Works items are being added in.

Looking great 8)
I’m surprised you didn’t do inline front axles being long front arms. Is there a reason why ?

I really really wanted to use my Thorp axles.

I forgot that the shock tower set came with a battery strap. That definitely needed to go on. My battery cup location on the chassis wasn't accommodating my Lipo battery so a new battery cup was printed. The OEM unit goes back to the parts bin.

It also seemed like time to make some shocking progress. Stroke limiters were adeed to the front shocks. I really like the bleeder caps.

Tie rods and steering mostly installed, just waiting on rear hub bearings.

What it is? 🤣
It's a green fiberglass pseudo tub chassis RC10 build with my preferred aftermarket parts and a few Kinwald style details. I'm not really a replica builder but I like to mix and match. This will be a bit of a Superman vs. Bizarro Superman when compred to a faithful Kinwald replica. For the chassis I considered black fiberglass but decided I'd do the green instead.

Front nose brace added and big ol' S9451 steering servo fit checked. Yep if fits and I'm glad RPM makes servo mount blocks.

IMHO, these Traxxas mounts position the servo a little better.

https://www.amainhobbies.com/traxxas-servo-mount-tra2715/p17467?gclid=Cj0KCQjwla-hBhD7ARIsAM9tQKsk4sgkvnoTORlgTKNe7C-ISXnb35iZVHcQNH1wqbETlDhTmPu2fGgaAjTqEALw_wcB

While I have a few sets of RPM mounts, I don't like how they position the servo so high. I try to somewhat level the servo linkage and a higher mounted servo requires more spacers.

If I want something nicer, I opt for the Yeah Racing aluminum mounts. Depending on the servo, they might cause interference with the chassis sides on tub RC10's (or space the servo).
