Ok Kyosho guru's, what is the paint color for the red that matches the decals :?:

Well, I don't consider myself a guru but I'll chime in anyway. :D

Remember that your choice of backing color is important as it will alter the final color.
Although it's probably not the best example, I've used Tamiya PS2 Red for the wing's side boards and it matches reasonably well with MCI repro decals applied over a white body. For my project, I've benefited from the physical separation of the painted and decal colors so any mismatch that exists is difficult to see.

As a suggestion, you could bring your decal sheet to a local hobby shop and match it to the paint cap color then, using scrap lexan, experiment with various backing colors until the best color match is achieved.

I really like the Turbo Ultima body. It makes a pretty mean looking buggy!

Thanks, that's what I'm going to do, is just try a scrap piece of lexan. I have Marwan decal's and the red is more like an orangish/red color

I've noticed that as well with the MCI decals; the red has a slight orange tint but it's very subtle.
So you could attempt to mix paint for an air brush or you could go with rattle cans. You might try two coats of PS2 red followed by one or two coats of PS7 orange.
Either way, could you post your results here?

Box art turbo ultima isn’t red, it’s orange.

You could be right about that.
Also, it appears they've changed how the sheet is arranged.
Here's a low res scan of the actual decal sheet I used for my project - this was roughly three years ago. For reasons I can't explain (perhaps because they will make no sense :| ), I always scan my decal sheets before I cut them.

Anyway, it looks like Nathanael has used the same red color for the panels as the Kyosho, Hooker and NGK logos. Maybe he ran out of orange toner that day?

Your very welcome. :D

Just one more item to post.

I found this image of an original TU decal sheet somewhere on the web back when I was rebuilding my car.
Notice that the orange and red colors are very nearly the same. The similarity could be due to the scanner used to create the web image or it could be due to age or variations in the printing process from BITD.

Anyway, I think this could be why I didn't question the accuracy of the decal sheet from MCI.
Live and learn.

Would the Tamiya orange work?

With any "lighter" color, it will be heavily influenced by the backing color, so the range of orange can vary greatly. This is Tamiya Orange backed in black and white.
