New build Kyosho Pegasus with upgrades

I bought enough new parts to repair an original release and build a new car from scratch with upgrades.

The new build is not from a kit but parts sourced from USA, Canada and Germany. Most parts are NOS Kyosho but body/driver/spoiler are new Canadian repros and the front suspension are German Graupner. The Graupner metal ball cups parts are big improvement over the factory plastic pieces. Twin metal gusset plates capture the front uprights ball joint and minimize the ball from popping out of the cup as with the oem plastic parts.

A ESC has been added and a Kyosho 240ST LeMans motor as well with stock gearbox. All the dog bones and suspension, as well as, the tub are new. Wheel/tires have been upgraded to Kyosho Ultima tires.

Fresh decals from Canadian firm ready for body to be painted.

In addition I have a Kyosho 360ST LeMans motor but not installed it yet for comparison.

Care to make a guess on best motor selection?

As I said in your other post, I'd be careful with putting too much power in these cars. With the dogbones and differential assembly being plastic, breakage can be a problem.

Thanks for reply, I am aware of the plastic internals and the potential problems.

The plastic components are both durable yet problematic so I now watch the launches and jumps. This is only run on streets and parking lot for fun. So far the second gearbox is still good after many years in my care (8 years and two kids) with intermittent use. The original gearbox I damaged on a jump and replaced it with a spare. I have chewed up many tires and one gearbox so it helps to have spares.

I am Keeping the original buggy and let somebody else enjoy the other.

Happy Holidays to all.
