Great forum. I ran my RC10 on road in "gearbox class" back in the day. The RC10 is the single most versatile RC design ever. I extended this chassis by one inch in order to mount this Protoform VW body. At first I considered getting a second tub, cutting both in half and overlapping the two at the middle but I couldn't bring myself to butcher two cars.

I think they are T-max tie rods but I can't remember. I replaced the wing tubes on the bulkhead with the original nose tubes. They'll work as rear body mounts because they are longer and have threaded ends for mounting a cross member.

Welcome aboard! Nice mod and very clean tub! Wouldn't off-road wheels would look better? Or maybe you want to go streetwise...

Thanks. I guess I'm a born on-road guy. Only off roaders I've owned have been the gold tubs and GT truck for dirt oval. I was never able to hack off road. The jumps, the endless trips from the drivers stand to right my overturned car, the grime! Slicks turn me on.

Well, I decided to go with off-road tires on this chassis, mainly because I want to run my Parma AC Cobra body on pavement, so I get the best of both worlds. Wonder how the car will handle with the extended wheelbase? Heres the body test fit, waiting for front body mounts.

That's one big body.
Most beetle conversions had to shorten the tub to fit the parma beetle body...must be a different scale.
can we get a topview? I 'd like to see how the wheels are covered by the flares.

Thanks for this pic It really shows the extention well also.
that body should look nice on a super-scale RC10T!
Who's gonna build one?

Finally. Painted it at midnight with the colors on hand. Needs engine detail, shorter front body posts and stickers.

Came out OK. The Parma AC Cobra body next. All I need is an RC10 to go under it.

Your car looks great. For some reason, I think it screams for a front bumper...like the proline or CRP tube types and a set of rally lights.
