Hi guys,

Im new here, I just get locally this rare bird apparently, Kyosho Fantom 20 Exp 3P 1/8, In very good condition, just dirt for years in a closet storage, I actually bought it just for the OS Max .21 motor that I need for another project, my surprise was when I discovered this is indeed a very rare and scare Rc car from 1980s, just did my job, full dissemble, clean, bearings replaced, lube and waiting for the motor bearings, Its in pretty good shape actually, no complains for $40 boxs.

The general idea is to get it working again, just for fun and then go to a shelf, hope you guys can help, Im looking for the Manual and off course your opinions about this model, the body needs some tlc but I guess Im pushing my luck just asking how hard is the get a new lexan body.... I really enjoy this part of let it shine again and be operative after so many years in hiding, hope you like it as me.

The Restoration,

A full dissemble and check every component from damage or prone failures, when things where made to last, what a beautiful kit, 4x4 and 3 shock absorbers, there's not a single video of this Rc racing... Pity. But here we are in this restoration adventure....

Beautiful shock absorbers, quite easy to put together, just waiting for spare parts then first drive test..... A friend of mine is going to help me to restore the body, it's not going to be perfect but I want to respect its character !

That's a beautiful piece of engineering , I've never seen an alloy chassis that's used as a flexing suspension piece assisted by shocks before , I've seen it with fibre glass before .
Very nice restoration taking place , well done .

Me either, doing some reading it seems to be the first Rc car with 3 points of suspension, I really like 80s engineering, can’t imagine 1/8 racing at that time…

The great addition of this era, 3 shock absorbers, what would change against other models? Don't know, pretty sure some folks here could notice the difference. Guys anyone can assist with a scan of the original manual, it seems unobtainable.

Who likes well done here? I got what you need.... A crunchy bearing hahaha oh well, it seems replacement its a must. What a tough engines!!

That's why always you need to strip down this car restoration projects, can you see the bendy?

I love this car. From my favorite era - lots of aluminum and made to last.

Well, Project Fantom 20 Exp 3P is finished, lots of work on the body, but the results are quite amazing, one of my favorite cars
