Anyone Heard Of Or Used This USPS Money Order Service

I have a seller that doesn't like PayPal, and TBH, I have hearing that more and more these days because PP gives the buyer almost too much protection and allows the buyer to screw over the seller.
So, he had initiated a conversation and stated that I can get a USPS MO, and my USPS office will send it to his local USPS office, and they will hold it until he comes in and ships the item. I kinda like the idea, although he could still send me a box of sand, so there is still not much buyer protection. But I can't find any information on this actually existing via the Google machine.
Anyone heard of this?

This is just me. But any online seller who doesn't accept PayPal is automatically questionable by me.
If I have to choose between my (buyer) protection and theirs, I'll choose mine every time.
Having said that, it's a different story with people that I know or who are established.

Well a lot of folks are also dropping PP because of their recent TOS shenanigans. I'd do the same, but I don't think there's a better alternative.
I haven't heard of USPS holding a MO until the seller ships, but there's the option of the seller sending the package using Collect on Delivery.

USPS is not good about claims. Does the seller have any ratings anywhere? It doesn’t sound legit - I’d be wary depending on the dollar amount.

Just my personal opinion...but I would not go that route with a seller. One thing, I have never heard of USPS holding a MO till someone ships. Anymore the USPS barely even does what they are supposed to do, so I doubt they will go out of their way to do "extra". I could be wrong, but I have never heard of them doing that with a MO before. Also as mentioned above, claims with USPS are a LONG shot. You honestly have maybe a 10% chance of getting your money back with them. They are terrible about claims.
Other thing that would rub me the wrong way is ... if I seller has an issue with Paypal because of who they side with most times, that almost makes me think he has had claims against him in the past where they sided with a buyer. And that would make me think twice about buying from him.
Personally I would say to pass on dealing with that seller, but again, that's just me.

Does suck to pass on what looks like a good deal, but better safe than sorry when it comes to money in this day & age. Not like the old days where a handshake means something and you could trust most people.
