Share pics of motors that you particularly like in your collection!

I will start off and share two in my collection that I particularly like simply because they look beautiful (having nothing to do with performance of course). Look at all those vents to keep things cool on both the endbell and the can! Both are Yokomo and I like the gray color sheen on the (modified bushing) and the super cool flue fins on the modified. I like the colorful metal,plastics, and labels. The funny motor names were also memorable too.

The gray motor is a modified too. It looks like a Reedy Ti series with the label removed .

This is a tough call. Which motors to prefer over the others.

This is not a definitive 'top of the heap' from my collection, but more a delegation of preferred representatives.

Most of these are motors The Fast Guys in my area would have been running back in the day. The Lightspeed and Demon are new to me but I consider them both worthy collection additions. The Black Magic was the magazine ad centerfold model that I always wanted.

Nice thread! I'm partial to this beauty. Brand new, never soldered up.....yet! Still have one that's been run too, with OG deans 4-pins. If you raced 1/10th on-road can-am/indoor oval on the east coast in '87-'89....you might have seen this 16T Double in front of ya

This is almost impossible for me to answer off the top of my head. Great thread to get me thinking about my collection though. Motors have 'value' for many different reasons, looks, performance, rarity or just an emotional connection out of nosalgia i suppose.

My list out of my collection would contain, in no particular order...

BK Select Pre-Sagami DEMON stamped single HT MG Igarashi (only one i have seen)

My 1991 and 1993 Demon Red Dots which i scored a few wins and FTD's with in the RRC Series those years MG prototype MG SuperMagnum Eliminator ceramic MG Star wind 8.5turn experimental motor MG slot brush converted MAGNUM There are loads of others which have a special place on the shelf. Really tough one to answer. Recently i have started collecting slot brush converted motors and have quite a number of those now, plus i also like the early Igarashi/Mabuchi modifieds too. The infancy of modified motors.

The BK Select, MG Igarashi, and the pic at the bottom are very neat. Never seen any of them. My RC10 worlds rerelease would look good with that BK motor. Gets me thinking how they started to evolve and improve motors after the mabuchi/johnson style motors. Thanks for the post!

It is funny - they look so basic but the MG Igarashi motor i have has the highest torque reading of all of my motors. The BoLink/Checkpoint slot brush conversions made the Igarashi motor performance step up another notch also, and I believe on the 83 1/12th circuit the Igarashi motors were more than a match for the 'new' Yokomo open endbell motors. I think the ease of maintenance of the Yokomo set up won the day and that is the direction things went. I think we all view the sliver can Mabuchi style motors as a basic kit, beginner motor, but i think the reality, from the birth of the modified motor classes was something different entirely. I also have a couple of worked-over early MG Mabuchi's, which again show solid performance.
I love opening up old Reedy modified Igarashi motors to see what was done. Slot brush conversions, machining for ballraces at both ends, cooling holes drilled, rewinds. It was all go at that stage

I know that it isn't particularly rare or special but my most cherished motor is my demon 19 single. Simply because of how awesome it looks. I mean it has a demon on it, it has to be fast.

Not THE motor, but my best racing memories were with the B&R Magnum. So I was stoked when one came attached to a buggy I picked up a while back. Now it will be on display in a build I am working on (slowly).

I have a Magnum as well and was blown away when I put it on my motor checker after a rebuild. It showed 40,000 rpm at 7.2V! I'll have to check the timing on it, not sure what the factory had set on them.
