Converting RC10 Graphite to RC10 Graphite Replica

I figured the only way to get a coffin chassis RC10 Graphite is to have a replica chassis made. Since I have an extra later model RC10 Graphite in nice condition, it seems like a good option for the making a coffin chassis style buggy.
Disclaimer - No RC10 Graphite parts are being harmed or lost in this conversion.

For the sharp eyed, yes I know the steering servo is getting mounted on the right side instead of the left side. That' wasn't intentional but works out fine for me. [err... maybe I need to stop looking at chassis plates upsidedown. The servo holes are drilled and countersunk on the correct side]

Yes, for RC10GT nose tube brackets.

Looks nice! Did you do the chassis yourself or have someone machine it for you?

I wanted carbon fiber for the chassis plate so I contacted Todd at VintageRC and sent him my pattern. He did nice work.

Dammit, now I want one (with a truck nose).

I have a pretty decent truck nose from a 10T, but I have to come up with a nice buggy nose to use for this.

Good luck. Nice buggy nose plates have gotten stupid, especially black ones.

I was hoping after seeing jconcepts reproduce the truck nose plate that we would see a buggy version.

Minor hiccup. When checking alignment with a 'well used' nose plate, I see that I didn't account for the nose plate overlapping a couple of the nose tubes bracket holes. Maybe I refurbish this nose plate and trim the sides a little, or maybe I add some holes and trim a step in the nose tubes brackets. I'm leaning toward refurbish and trim this nose plate.

Could always give the nose plate the “worlds” cut

Oooo! I hadn't thought of that.

Not really a match for the original gold, but the color is good enough for my refurbished nose plate. Next up, a little worlds style trimming.

Well that's not good. Another minor hiccup with the RC10GT nose tube brackets. I'll have to use a set of bearing bellcranks.

It sure is a shiny chassis though. Almost like a carbon fiber mirror.
