Just getting this started. It'll be a little while before I can put any data together.

Anyway, I picked up this Bud's motor dyno, complete with box, instructions, and a couple motors.

First, I had to make a couple small repairs. It came with self-tapping 8-32 screws, which had partially stripped and damaged the phenolic plastic base.
I replaced them with studs, installed with CA glue.

I got the scanner linked up with my tablet and was able to scan the directions.
I also scanned the data sheet. For some reason, the scanner removed the header from the page.
I also borrowed a page from the Tekin dyno manual, about making a dedicated slave motor.

I built the slave motor and decided to try it.

Apparently, the cheap Kobalt DVM that I bought doesn't range very well, so I had to use my Fluke. Or at least, I might need to learn how to use a cheap meter.
I didn't try to get any useabe data, just verifying that it loads up and displays some type of data.

I've also got to figure out how to adjust the auto-range on my Fluke meter.

That's what I remember from the 80s....it never told rpm, just a random # that u had to use as a reference point...still classic tho

Yeah, I had one, probably still have it around here somewhere...it worked great for determining motor performance when custom cutting brushes and matching springs or playing with timing. Not a scientific tool obviously but it was cheap and worked fine for what it was...

Or a better meter. This type of work has an old school Simpson analog written all over it. Digitals are just so slow to react. You can probably pick up an old 260 for around $100 locally.

I had one of these at one point in time, but never got into using it. Finally sold it off on the bay. Pretty sure I tried to sell it here pretty cheap with no interest.

For me, it's just something else to amuse myself with. I like building and tinkering with stuff, and this fits perfectly.

Let's be honest. I paid $50 for it and it came with two motors. Even if I never touch it again, I'm not out much.
