RC10T parts wreck

Post by JosephS »

I saw this RC10t on ebay for a price that seems about right to turn it into parts.

This truck looks like it was a white arm rc10t that was 'upgraded'
Some of the parts were dyed black and that dye is fading and some were painted black. I am hoping to strip the dye from the white parts and use acetone to remove the paint.

I wonder how much will be usable off this truck.

A lot of interesting choices were made on this truck. There are no pins, the arms were installed upside down. The chassis is rough.

That makes the rough RC10T I bought today look like new! :D
I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.

Yeah I was looking for something to focus on. Even just getting it cleaned up and parted out is going to take a bit of effort. I may clean it up and piece it together just to do and a before and after photos.

That reminds me of how my RC10T started out. A lot of work can probably turn that into a decent 10T.

There are a few parts that could use a little buffing.

Yep. I dropped the front shock tower in some acetone before the light completely faded and it came back white. I took a bunch of the nylon and started washing it up. The color is coming off the nylon with just a bit of scrubbing. I think there is a shot for some of the parts to come out of this ok.

This trucks like a sport truck that was equipped with teflon shocks. There was a mix of bushing and bearings in the gear box and it had 1/4" axles.
I am quite amazed at the use of rivets. There was a single pin in the truck all the rest were rivets.

Do you know if the black RPM arms were dyed black or a different material? These arms are showing white in wear areas.

Those arms were available in black and white. Probably other colors too

Things are starting to come together.
The chassis is is much better shape that it first appeared.

After some deanodizing it appears nearly all the scratches were light. The tub was also really well cast with nearly no lip.

The front shock tower cleaned up quite nice.

I soaking some of the parts in rit color remover.

Some parts are much lighter in color than before.
