Better Looking Bodies for Newer Buggies???

Hi Folks,

I'm thinking about getting a newer AE buggy (like an RC10B74.1 or similar) but I just can't stand the 'cab-forward' look of modern buggies. I've not had any luck on the internet looking at the usual suspects for aftermarket bodies with more of a traditional rear-cab look, especially ones that are designed for these new ugly buggies. Has anyone managed to improve the look of a modern buggy without just resorting to trial and error to see what fits?

PS - my background is all Vintage Tamiya and Kyosho (which I still use) so I fancied a buggy I can thrash/break, not get too attached to and can get parts for easily...but I'd like to be able look at it without throwing up!!!

Thanks for any pointers :D

Paul

You know Boki? I was thinking that some polycarbonate motor holder trays would be awesome for storage. If you've got his ear, just a suggestion.

I'm all for the old-school look and used to think the same about the modern bodyshells. However, after running the modern stuff for a while, I think the shells look good on modern buggies.

Maybe after a while you'll get used to the look, too? Or, maybe not. Each to their own.

@Dirtburner - that's a lovely colour scheme, which chassis is that...Yokomo I assume?! Still not sold on the forward cab but if that's the price of being competitive then maybe I have to roll with the times?!?!

Cheers, Paul

I probably owe a follow-up post here...

The cab-forward style didn't put me off enough and I bought the B74.1D kit in the end! I've found a couple of slightly different style bodies but they're all still cab-forward designs so I looks like I'm stuck with it

To be honest the incredible engineering of the modern chassis has me completely sold on the new designs and I can live with whatever it looks like...although I'm experimenting with paint schemes to see what I can do to personalise it a bit!

Cheers for all the comments!

Some of the cab forward bodies look really good IMHO, however there are some that look absolutely ugly. Slightly more controversial, all the modern full scale SCORE buggy classes are now cab forward as well, and I personally think most look ugly. But, as discussed in the past, cab forward in scale buggies isn't necessarily new, there has been plenty of cab forward bodies in the past.

In recent years the only classic style 'cab back' body I've seen is this one: https://www.jconcepts.net/shop/illuzion-b6-b6d-body

Cool to hear that Boki might be adding to the classic body arsenal soon 8)

The LFR A2 Tactic body by leadfinger is the best B74 body I've seen. I bought a few last year. They have a more mid cab look. Only slight issue with them is that my ESC only just fits under it as the sides slope downwards.

Thanks for that...it's a better looking body (although I am starting to like the one I have now I've painted it!!  ). The LFR body looks lower at the front than the original body, do the original body mounts still fit with the A2 Tactic?

Cheers!
