Ronbo's RC10 Graphite to Masami 89 RC10GX

Thankfully one of the items that didn't get purged in early 2000s was my original RC10 Graphite chassis, with original box , manuals with stealth transmission. Although the parts were all used on other cars at time, my battle worn chassis (as I noticed on the front end plate) survived. But I wanted to do something different, and going through Masami's personal page 32, http://www.translatetheweb.com/?from=&to=en&a=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hirosaka.jp%2Fstory32.html . I noticed, in color, these pictures of his RC10GX as it was known in Japan. So, I decided I could try to get as close to it as I can. There will be a few hurdles and unknowns of course. But my current question, and I believe due to the Team shocks present, and what I perceive in the picture, it was equipped with a Stealth transmission and not 6 gear. Sourcing a yoke steering rack with the tall screws for the brace ( I need one for my 89 Masami Yoke first) will be hard.
Not in picture is Losi front and rear tires, plus 2 body choices I have which is the Protech II and Viper. I believe the body used was Protech II, but open to suggestions. Decals will be MCI, so close representation.

Looking forward to seeing how this goes!
I’ve just completed a Masami ‘89 Worlds Yokomo (4+2 chassis) and toying with what I’m going to do with my RC10 Graphite Team Car.
Do you know what his reason for going to a Yokomo steering system was? I saw on his ‘91 Reedy Race of Champions gold pan RC10 he did the same.

Who knows for sure why he went with yokomo steering. My guess would be that this would have been an easy cross steer setup at the time. This places your servo centered on the chassis and help weight balance your car

And easier to get since its Yokomo. Probably the same as using the yokomo tie rod ends, more secure and readily available. Although, JJ Halsey looked to use the RC10 shock ends on his 85 champ, which is what i did. I bought a bunch of Re re shock ends to do this on this Masami car. I have a few extra but need those for the Masami 89 870c. I also need to source rear pink yoke wheels, may have to order again from Jcracing in UK. I have only 1 of my original rear pink wheels. Only need 1 to be complete...sheesh...

Following this thread. Nice project! I have an RC10GX and trying to decide what to do with it. How is the build coming along? Any pictures "in progress"?

I had to reorganize my parts for the car. Then modernizing my RC10T to run. Need to lay out the parts again. Still need yellow battery heat shrink to cover ESC Im using. Will need to look through parts and start cleanup on my chassis.

If you have pics of your RC10GX, show them!

Well, started to work on the car, starting with the chassis plate. This should be the hardest part, as its taking alot of work to get 30 plus years of stickers, North Carolina clay, glue and some serious battle damage to get clean. Its better, still a little more to go. I looked on ebay for any graphite chassis, but I will stick with this for now since ran this chassis alot. Glad i still have the manual and original box.

Just an acrylic clear coat for now. Im hoping i will learn how to restore it to new, but for now i just sealed the edges with CA glue and the clear coat. Working on the body right now since its decent weather here.
