Hello from Oxford - England

Post by Zaskar »

I thought i'd just say a quick hello, great forum and it's already been a great help and also inspiration for me to get back into my old hobby, i'm 43 yo and i'm assuming that many of you are of that kinda age - don't we look back at the 80s and 90s of RC romantically!.

Just before this christmas I was looking at a Lego Technic kit, one of those nice Porsche kits geared up for the more mature builder but somehow I got down the Google rabbit hole of lovely shiney RC car kits!.

I have just finished a build of a rere turbo optima, great fun and a great kit, I never had the fortune to own one of these when they were current but i'm glad i do now, Javelin next.

My first proper RC car was a Tamiya Fox mid to late 80s (i won't mention those Nikko things i had before the Fox :P ) loved that car and used to rebuild it (crash) a lot, used to really like trying out new motors in it borrowed from friends and running it on wet days.

After that I had an original Avante. wish i still had that!, great car.

Anyway enough rambling, I'm glad to be here and I may do a very short build thread on the rere TO just highlighting some points that may not have been noted on other similar threads.

I'd also like some advice on a brushless motor/ESC and battery combo to run on stock gearing for this TO.

Cheers :)

If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.
