So I started a while ago on this car and never finished it.
The chassis doesn't line up well with most bodies and it got sidelined for a while.

Anyways...

The chassis had been cut/carved where the front arms were touching the chassis on full droop.
Most chassis that are similar usually have some accommodation for this type interference.
There were also a few extra holes that had been drilled and minor scuffs/scrapes.


I used some JB Weld Plastic bonder as a filler after roughing the areas to be repaired to help with the mechanical bond.
Then sanded until it smooth

I decided to use SprayMax 2K Activated Epoxy Primer Black mainly to have a sandable finish to even out and fill minor imperfections.
After that Spray max 2K Clear Coat Semi Matte.

Rounded up a few parts for the build.

Fully rebuilt shocks... And in pretty nice condition.
New build transmission.
Made 2 spacers (1mm) for the front 6208 mounts. This gives good chassis to front arm clearance.
Andy's arm front and rear.

This shows the body clearance issue.

You will probably have to notch out the chassis again in those spots in order to mount the arms in place. Those chassis are super frustrating. The Andy pro arrow fits as well as the heathen.

I really did not like the whole chassis notch thing,
That is why I added the 1mm spacer to go under the front mounts.
The clearance is fine now, seems like a small spacer but gained what I wanted.

The Pro-Arrow fits as well?

I had heard that the Renegade fits.

Not caring for how the Renegade looks, I put a Jammin Jumper on mine. I just notched it. Once completed, it looked better than I thought it would.

I hope so... just ordered one.
I can verify once it gets here.

I thought the Renegade was fairly ugly too, so never ordered one.

Being that your chassis is similar to mine did you have issues with front arm clearance?

That’s the one from the TQ10 article in RCCA, can he still make them ??

Yeah I read too quickly and didn't see the spacer reference. That should be fine, doubt it would mess with any noticeable geometry.

Someone had already noticed my chassis at some point. I just cleaned up the edges with a small file.

Has anyone ever noticed that anytime you see a chassis like this, its almost a foregone conclusion that it will have Andy's arms on it.

I mean, I get it. If you were going to buy a chassis, you might as well buy arms too. I also get that options were limited then.



Concerning the esc. Are you planning on mounting it to the tower? I used a small Hobbywing 1060 on mine because of the limited space. I just bought some esc shelves from Sabula Tech that might be an option as well.

The Andy's arms were pretty much the only option out there to widen the front end of the rc10 (without a wide nose plate) in '88-'89. Even the AE team drivers used them until Associated had their own.

I asked Andy about the Heathen a few months ago. I can't recall exactly what he said, but it was either the mold was lost or damaged from what I recall.
