Bandit wheel options?

I'll soon have a parted-out Bandit in my possession, my first Traxxas. I can't say I've ever seen a Bandit rolling on anything other than the stock chrome five-spokes which I find to be kinda ugly. I know they use a pin-drive mount on all four corners which is pretty unique for front wheels. I've seen 12mm hexes of all types out there so I'm not really concerned about finding something else that fits, more curious about the offsets. Since I always see Bandits on stock wheels, is there something unique about the offset requirements making common Associated/Losi/Kyosho/whatever 2.2 wheels fit incorrectly? Just curious. Thanks.

You can switch the front axles for Rustler versions and use hexes. In the rear, just add the hex.

Using Rustler tires and wheels to make "monster buggies" are popular.

Thanks. I wasn't aware of the need for a longer front axle to fit the hex, but now that I see pics I get why.

Is there any issue finding buggy wheels in the right offset?

I don't know about finding the correct offset. But if you figure in different hex thicknesses and different wheel offsets, you have lots of options.

But I just checked, original Traxxas pin mount wheel are cheap. The original white dish wheels are $4 a set and the chrome spokes are $8 a set. The white dish wheels seem like a no-brainer.

I have Traxxas wheels on several of my cars. They seem pretty tough.

Fantastic. I didn't know Traxxas made their own plain dish wheels, my preferred style. I'll have to order a set or two. Thanks!

I received my order from A Main today which consisted mostly of Traxxas parts to help button this thing up. I did buy a set of pin-drive white dish wheels but it turns out I'm not going to use them just yet. A while back I had bought a set of unbranded mounted B4 hex-style wheels and tires off eBay to do an inexpensive hex conversion to the B4 I had also recently acquired, so the plan was to try to use them on the Bandit. Turns out they work beautifully, just not how I thought they would.

I did buy Rustler parts; the longer front axles (which I ended up not using), the wider front hexes and the narrower rear hexes. Turns out the B4 wheels worked perfectly on the Bandit front axles and narrow rear hexes, with the wider front hexes mounted on the rear. The hex plastic comes out even right to where the threads start on the axle so I didn't need to drill the wheels out to 5mm, and the remaining axle threads extend just enough for the nyloc nuts to fully engage them and not a hair more. The wheel offsets look perfect also. It all turned out like this combination of parts was made specifically for mounting B4 hex wheels.

I'm quite sure I'm not the first one who's discovered this, I was just very pleasantly surprised how well it worked out. I can post pics later if anyone's curious.
