I think I may be able to grab a local rc10sc5m for about $120 which is about what I want to spend on a basher, but I am more interested in stadium trucks.

I see a lot of parts in common for the rc10(b/t/sc)5 platform, including axles and suspension arms. What are the part differences between the t5m and the sc5m? I am going to go out on a short limb and say the SC has a gear diff, and different body mounts.

Are there any significant negatives on the 5 series or the SC truck ? It seems to be the least expensive used associated 1/10 platform .

While stadium trucks are more nostalgic, I prefer the short course for bashing around. The big body definitely absorbs potential damage to the running gear and the tires/arms do not stick out to get caught on anything. I have a first model SC10 and enjoy ripping around the street/yard.

Here are the links for the two vehicles, if you wanted to check the manuals for parts difference.

That is a pretty good point. In addition to the gear vs ball diff I know the SCT have a huge number of bumpers.
The choice got complicated since I found a $80 rc10T while looking for at the sc5m... I don't have space for both
