I'm not a big vintage guy, but I've always liked the Monster beetle. Kind'a thinking about picking one up to add to the collection. Just wondered what they are worth. As in an original, and then they did re-release it I think ?

It’s a fun bug and looks great! It was re-released in 2015. They are back in stock, so now is a good time to get one. Its weakness is the stock gear diff, and there are several solutions but I recommend a MIP ball diff and a set of bearings when you build it.

The gearbox issue is the main reason that I've always avoided that chassis platform.

The MIP ball diff with the re-re’s CVDs is a huge improvement over the stock diff and the old Thorp stuff.

Yeah as recommended get the ball diff if you can. You can then run all sorts of motors through it.
the main issue to watch out for is a slipping/grinding sound when you accelerate hard or floor the throttle. The gear diff starts to separate under power and the gears slip.

Oh and enjoy the hilarious amount of bump steer
