Rats to Ritches (ebay GT rescues)

Just what I need another GT. I’m going to keep this one very basic, very simple. Under all the grime I could see this is actually not a bad truck. And to the chassis and engine mounts credit, I had a little hand in the breakage. The chassis had a pretty good bow to it. I stuck it on the knee and gave it just a tad too much and snapped the engine mount causing the chassis to way over bend the other way.

Ouch ! I bet you knew what that was when you heard and felt it without even looking.

To be honest I’ve never snapped an engine mount like that before. I actually thought it was the transmission case at first. I couldn’t care less about a pull start mount, or the chassis. I don’t even know why I bothered trying to straighten it at all.

Hey it was worth a shot right, I’d probably have done the exact same thing the exact same way.....

I thought I might as well throw a few parts together before calling it a night.

Looks like your definitely going to make short work of this GT.

That mount had to be cracked to start with, and if the chassis was bent to begin with I think it would be safe to say it happened then....... or Todd is just a machine
Looking good, nice and clean
The old chassis looked to be in pretty good shape to begin with. I'm sure it can still be fixed unless it has micro cracking where it's bent.
What body do you have planned for this one?

Pretty fresh
Sure someone could’ve ran it with some straightening. But it was pretty haggard and I’d never put it back on a rebuild.

Alright this one is a 10 footer. I really didn’t put that much effort into cleaning everything. And replaced what I could with nicer parts if I had them. It looks a lot better than it did and it’s not an embarrassment to be on my display shelf. I picked this body up a little while ago. It was the first Andy’s body I saw and it was for a GT so I hit the BIN. It’s not really my style paint job but it’s ok. It fits and it’s a painted body that’s what matters.

The body definitely brings me back to the nineties...cant tell you how many times ive tried to paint those splash graphics on a truck body.
So the chassis was replaced, correct?
Great outcome for this project!!!

This is the chassis that came from the blue GT truck. Same nose though. It was a little tweaked but overall not bad.

This is the most recent purchase of mine. The appearance seems worse than it is, the seller disassembled most of the car for shipping. I don’t feel like assembling just for a picture, so….. Besides being a little grimy it’s a pretty clean base to start with. Instead of just cleaning it up and putting it back together I decided to pull out a couple parts and change up the build a little. I can’t recall of the top of my head seeing a blue flat pan truck with white parts, so here it goes. I don’t have a good selection of wheels and tires on hand so it will get some hand me downs for now.

All of your GT builds are so cool! Wish I would have bought one of the Jconcepts EGT kits when they were available!
