Given the current price of Stealth transmissions, I couldn't pass this up. Total price was $140.

It has CVD's which will likely end up on my Team Truck.

The Tekin esc looks to be in good shape.

The shocks look like Traxxas, they'll be spare parts.

I bought it to strip for parts. But I may buy another chassis and try to make it somewhat presentable.

Oh yeah, this thing is in addition to other ongoing projects that I have.

The gold pan is mostly complete. It needs to be stripped back down and whitened, decide on wheels, and get a body.

The black pan needs a set of Klein arms, hinge pins, shock towers, wheels, and a body.

To top it off, my wife bought me two kits for Christmas.

OMG, this thing was worse than I thought.

Who ever put it together, glued EVERYTHING. It looks like model glue. I think they squinted the rest of the tubes/s randomly, to help "secure" everything.

I haven't gotten around to re-pinning the esc and checking it. It and the servo were both pinned to match the old style Airtronics receiver. I hope the esc works, the servo feels stripped.

The shocks are all Traxxas extra-long versions. Whatever.

Not that I was going to use it but the chassis is also severely bent. Like 1/4" from the servo foreword.

I could tell that the wheels were painted. But they were painted on the truck, including some on the tires, nuts, and axles.

Surprisingly, the Pro-Line Speed Hawgs are in decent condition. I fully expected them to be dried out.

I got the most of the paint off the wheels. The last little bit in the center doesn't want to turn loose. I think its imbedded in where the wheel nuts have gouged the nylon.

Got the tires off too. Debonder wasn't getting it done, so I had to revert to the oven.

I soaked most of the parts that were caked with glue in acetone. While I was able to get most of it off, there is a white residue all over the pieces. I might just have to hit them with some flexible paint.

Amazingly, the entire front end is in near perfect condition. Almost like it was done by another person.

Got the transmission rebuilt. Luckily, they managed not to get too much glue on it.
- Opened it up and it was a bushing model. I didn't have any bearings, so I just cleaned and lubed everything.
- Other than being a little dirty, it didn't need much. A new diff gear got everything working smoothly. It didn't have the correct thrust washer setup for the slipper but l had picked up a spare in a parts lot.

Got the esc re-pinned and it seems to work fine. I had forgotten how finicky Tekin esc's can be. It took several tries to get it programed correct.

Looking at the brushes on the Traxxas Stinger motor, it didn't look to have been used much. Put some leads on it and it works. Lubed the bushings and its even quiet.

Put the esc, motor, and transmission together, and let them run through a battery pack on the desk. The transmission actually feels even better now, nearly as smooth as another one that I just rebuilt with bearings.

Thanks. Compared to many of the cars around here, my nice cars are still heaps.

I haven't even taken the front apart to clean it, just test fitted shocks.

Anyway. I was going to buy a set of shocks but decided to raid my parts boxes instead.
I found a set of new shock bodies for a Tamiya Stadium Blitzer and some new Traxxas shock shafts.
For the front, I used Dubro ends, B4 cups and 10T springs.
Blitzer rears have a larger body, so I used Tamiya cups with some Duratrax springs I had, along with some Traxxas ends.
All of them required external limiters, so I used my last four JConcepts rubber ones.
I still need some bladders for the rear, so I'll probably just order a few sets from overseas.

While rummaging through the junk boxes, I also found some take-off Pro-Line tires that are in decent condition.

I had a boss at one time I nick named the heap. Well because he was so cheap and tried to get by on all the crap of crap. I just always snicker when I hear heap because of that memory. Looking good

I used to have a "Raggedy Andy" truck. It had a gold pan and six gear, Traxxas caster and steering blocks, and Traxxas hex wheels.

It has since been converted to a black pan and Stealth but kept the Traxxas wheels and hex components.

The gold pan and transmission became another car.

With an ebay chassis and more raiding of the the parts boxes, its now a roller.

It actually still needs several small items before it will be ready for electronics. I just stuck a servo in to hold steering.

I was going to leave it in pieces until I got everything for it but thought better of it. With everything in one place, nothing is likely to go missing.

Well, I have other stuff in need of attention, so this one will stay as is for a while.

Even though I'm waiting for shock bladders from across the pond, I got bored and decided to throw some electronics in it.

I was going to use one of the Tekin Rebel esc's in it, but they are just too bulky to fit inside a RC10 chassis. But I had a Duratrax Auto-Sport that fits nicely. I didn't notice the the the Duratrax esc/Tactic servo connection until I was actually installing the esc.

A Futaba R142JE and Kyosho 22T Outlaw Stock top it off. Truthfully, the Kyosho motor was the only motor that I had that was ready to install and fit the esc's specs.

Seeing that this is turning out to be a fairly nice truck, I decided that it deserved something better than some mismatched plastic shocks.

I picked up this set of new 1.02's on clearance from Associated a few years ago. I kept them around in case I ever needed parts. I never did, so I decided to go ahead and use them.

I picked up the rears on ebay, in excellent condition. All I had to do was clean and bleed them. They are more olive green in comparison to the dark grey fronts but whatever.

I also swapped out the Kyosho motor for a mild Orion modified.

I have a new JConcepts F-150 body but I still need to order some extended rear mounts before fitting it.

Your ‘heap’ is looking amazing! Funny what parts we start to find lying around when we start these restorations/ not Restoration builds! Lol looking great, I really should get back to mine now!

Looking good and much better with the Associated shocks.

The truck really isn't even recognizable from the dumpster fire that I started with.


But yeah. I picked up the shocks while ordering some re-re six gear parts several years ago. At the time, I didn't even know what a 1.02 shock fit. But they were stupid cheap (like $12 or something), so I bought them anyway. A rebuild kit alone is twice that now. As a bonus, they came with enough plastics and seal for four shocks.
