Chain Guides

Post by HS-YZ250 »

Wanted to share something I've been over-thinking : mounting the electronics in this Rocky. The LeMans esc has two mounting screw holes on the bottom, which is also the heat sink. I want to use the mount and not adhere it, since it's shiny and nice looking, and I didn't want to put the heat sink against the ABS tub in case it got hot. Also, the tub only really has room where the original esc went, a bit off to the side and I thought the cables would bear against the body. So, I broke out my old Turbo Rocky chassis I got a while ago.

I currently have the esc on a couple of existing holes, but that puts it up against the chain even without the chain guide, which I don't have and, from pictures, seems to be a different part than either of the standard Rocky guides, so I might have to 3D print one.

I could maybe drill anothet hole or two for the ESC, but I also don't like the cable tie mounting for the servo.

I'm considering this...

I'll still have to 3D print an upper chain guide, and maybe make a metal tab to mount the esc, but the kit seems to have the abs tub style servo mount. I'm just apprehensive about spending another $90 on this, though I already have full cv joints and a brushless system.

What would you guys do?

If you decide on the chassis from Factory Works, let me know as I can save you the ebay fees and ship direct to you.

to your actual question, I would not worry to much about mounting it to your tub. Modern speed controls do not require nearly the cooling that those of yesterday did.
