Pretty far out of my AE comfort zone.
My wife got this for me to try and "resurrect".
Afraid this hobby grade car was rode hard and put up wet.

So I tore it down and cleaned everything as good as possible.
Found 2 cracks in chassis, so unless I can find a replacement chassis it won't be seeing any off-road action.
Bonus points for finding a Futaba period correct ESC, receiver and servo mounted in it.
Looks like the original motor as well.

If the cracks are in the front, the CRP bumper/brace should sturdy it up some. Check Ebay.

My first hobby grade!!!!! The FX10!!! I loved that thing. I'm sure we all knew somebody that was like, "can I drive it?" Then we said something like, "Awe gee, I don't know, it can get kinda confusing if you're not used to it. I mean, you gotta turn the opposite direction that you think when it's coming towards you and you don't wanna run it too far out or it'll go outta range...." To which they reply, "Awe c'mon, man, please?" You hand over the sticks and they immediately plow it into a curb or a parked car and then hand the controller back with a, "whoops."

Well if you end up with the front inboard rear arm mounts punched thru the chassis into that space under the front bumper, you can spend some time glazing up your dad's bench grinder wheel while fashioning a fat "U" shaped plug from a scrap of cedar. Then you wedge it down it there and hold it in place with the bumper. ANYTHING TO GET IT BACK IN THE GRAVEL!!!

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Have fun with this one!

Looks like mine was perforated much like yours. As well as a couple of other cracks.
I am guessing that's fairly common.
So I did a couple of repairs, mostly cosmetic.

None the less I moved forward and installed the suspension and trans.
I did get a new pair of CRP bones as one of the originals was trashed.

Getting the FX10 back together.
Went with original mechanical speed controller.
May try to replace original body and get some repro stickers.

The FX10 was my first hobby grade car too...I picked one up not too long ago in a CL lot, it's got a nice home on the shelf now! Keep an eye out, new chassis come up on Ebay now and then.

A little more cleanup, some parts, some paint and stickers.
Stayed with the original body and painted it.
New front body post, front shock tower, dog bones and battery door.
Need to paint the driver and try to find replacement tires, maybe.
