Rear wheel compatibility, B4 and B3

Sorry if this question has come up before, I couldn't find it in a search here... does anyone know if there is a major difference in the rear wheels of the B4 and B3? I'm rebuilding a B3 and have sourced parts to be able to use B4 front wheels... however I'm unclear if there is any big difference that would prevent B4 rear wheels (pin style) working without any modification on the B3. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!!

Biggest difference is offset. B4 wheels sit narrower than B3.

Thanks! So I take it there's nothing mechanically preventing them from working on the B3 (no rubbing against parts etc.), just a difference in the overall geometry?

If it goes too deep, it might rub eg. lower shock end etc.

This is an interesting question so I've just done a quick trial.
First, my B3 has 1/4" axles while all B4's have 3/16" so that's a problem.
If you were to force the wheel onto the axle, it will clear the camber link and lower shock mounts.
Fitting B4 wheels will drastically reduce track width and will negatively affect handling.
So, there are a number of problems that come with doing this swap.
Hope this was helpful.

JC Racing Products has wheels that are direct fit.

Wow, thanks guys for the info! Those JC Racing wheels look like they may be the perfect option.

Offset of wheels between b4 and all previous; b3/2 and rc10 is about 0.400" per side.

JC Racing wheels are brilliant. Only thing missing is a vent hole, but that's easily resolved.

Hey Doug, I always thought the B2/B3/B4 all had 3/16" axles, no? I only thought the original series had 1/4" to 5/32" taper axles.

Sport kits had 1/4" axles.
