acquired from France via ebay. On the basis that its a stock of 'zerda' spares or a project.
Missing battery box top and bodyshell, chassis a bit bent, biggest issue seems to be a bent belt cover which is aluminium (luminum for you yanks!).
tips of softening/bending ally welcome.

Dismantling shows up some plusses and minuses. apart from the bent chassis plate and belt cover, a bit of rust on one shock shaft and a couple of dogbones.
Bearings seem Ok as does motor, belts and pulleys. Battery box a bit nibbled and the original wiring harness and resistor based speed control are present if not complete.
anyway 2.4ghz will be installed probably.
A few 'odd' bolts and some garden wire had been used to bodge repairs (what's French for 'bodge')
All the plastic parts look good if a bit scratched from use, no glued repairs.
Looking at 'City' images seems some have a perfectly flat chassis plate and some have bends at the ends to receive bumbers?

rebuild begun, and some judicious straightening makes the chassis 'almost' flat. Frightened to go that extra mile where the 'luminum would probably split.

That should prompt some responses.. :D
Rebuild is going well , I looked at your 'city body shell option comments. I might look at fitting a zerda type top deck as I have one but the servo saver would need altering and the battery box would need trimming.
The shocks were filled with 20/40 but seals look good. A good clean and rebuild will confirm.

almost there. The rear shock tower original fit and as per the manual was the completely wrong angle to align with the shock and suspension so reversed it.

I've put the original steering knuckles back but gonna fit Dadio's 3d'd mkII's before running methinks.
The front 'shock towers' look meaty enough but maybe a cross brace would help?

just the proverbial oily rag and a bit of lubrication. (and a big 'ammer in places). Luckily found enough nuts and bolts etc. in the spares box.
I've set the castor to the 'neutral' position, all working ok and i've only briefly read up the manual on what its supposed to do.....correct me if i'm wrong but the zerda has a slightly 'nose up' alignment and the castor on the city can achieve that?
Fitted your first pass knuckles which are fine for wheel clearance and the bearings fit nice and snug, well done your 3d'ing skills. The other pair will probably go on the Zerda.

Them tyres ain't gonna pass the MOT! waiting for new ones.
another candidate for 12mm hex conversion perhaps, have you thought any more about it re zerda knuckles, bearings, axles?

To do a 12mm hex conversion could be fairly easy but first you need to find some wheel axles , the end of the dog bone is fairly standard size , same as the scorpion for example , probably ReRe optima axles would work but i don't know for sure , once you have the axles then designing and printing an adaptor to slide and screw into the space for the original single 15mm wheel hub bearing and that accepts twin 10mm standard bearings would be easy , I'd just need the axle to design the adaptor and the only ones i have are scorpion ones and would be too long .

I've been looking at cheap axles on eBay by seller blacksmith, but it's an iceberg of axles, then adapters, then bearings. So persuading myself to be content for the time being.

hold ups in the supply chain... waiting for tyres so did a 12mm hex 'conversion' using hex adapters and filing them to fit the tapered axles until they rode up to the bearing. Fitted these cheap tyres from China, and they'll do for cul de sac cruising leaving the 'proper' city tyres for any time as a shelfer.
Image
The tyres look a tad oversized but mostly due to the lost tread on the originals. The larger rims also make more room for the steering knuckles on the front

Making a template for a deck. I agree with Dadio that a Vega body is most 'attractive' but call me a tight git, lexan bodyshells are overpriced for the same material I get two steaks in at Sainsbury's.
A guy in Australia has the optional Baja racing body but its pig ugly.
Image
One option might be a cage similar to Zerda to go over the deck and fix to the City roll bar.
New name; Hirobo Rockn Upcycle ?
