Original Short Wheel Base Wild Willy M38, circa 1982. I am the original owner. Bought it while serving in the USAF In Germany back in the early 1980s. Not long after I built this M38 the 1st time, I wanted a little longer run time, and built a battery using Ni-Cad cells used in F-16 Fighting Falcon avionics (I was an Aircraft Electrician on the F-16 at the time). The cells were larger, so I cut out the molded in fuel cell on the body and built an ammo crate out of balsa and epoxy in order to enlarge the battery compartment. It worked very well, and looked really cool. It still sports the custom ammo crate cargo to this day. This Wild Willy has undergone 3 restorations over the decades. The 1st in the early 1990s when it was stolen, and recovered after the thief pretty much destroyed it, and paint bombing it silver to try and disguise it. You might notice some of the body details have been shaved, and smoothed. This was due to being ruined by the thick, gooey paint bomb. It was the only option to restore the body from that recovery. I have since had the opportunity to replace the body, but grown to love the shaved details as it is part of this car’s history, and I wanted to keep that history intact, so kept the original body. It was restored the 2nd time after it sat on the shelf for years, and the family cat decided to knock it off the shelf sending poor willy 6 foot to the floor in a devastating nose dive. Completely caving in the front bulkhead and suspension resulting in tossing it to the back of a closet for years due to frustration, then years later sourcing an original NOS bulkhead and front suspension sprues, as well as an original front grill sprue, I was able to bring it back to life again. It was shelved for many more years, until my grandson’s fascination with RC cars, inspired me to bring old Willy back to life again this past year. It has been through 2 sets of original tires, but now sits on brand new, high quality reproduction tires. This Wild Willy was bought when my oldest son was only 2 months old (now my grandson’s father). The vintage picture is this same Wild Willy months after I bought it, along with my son when he was a toddler. All my kids (4 of them now) grew up with this Wild Willy, and it will never leave our family. This classic Tamiya has lived a rough life over the decades, and if I have to say so myself, looks and runs damn good for having such a life journey. I hope you like it.

Hi,
This is my Graupner / Kyosho Rally Sports Fairlaidy 240Z from the past

More than 6 year to finish it,between finding parts, good condition front tires and complete radio box.
I bought 3 different chassis to finish.
A lot of parts were polished, some alloy parts were trimmed and sanded to be shiny at polishing.
All screws are now some Inox A2 screws.
The body is the one of the first chassis i bought.

Tudorp's story is too cool and the epitomy of "playing with toy cars" - you get my vote, Sir!

What a hard decision ! as always i wish i had more votes , Wild Willy's story is wonderful and my second car was the Willy's Wheeler its sister (or brother ?) car so its close to my heart . The Javelin well its a Javelin ! few more pretty cars have ever been made . Lastly for me is the 240Z ! i nearly bought one myself this month , just such a lovely scale car ..... not to mention the other cars this month all deserving votes . Gunna have to think on it for a bit .
