New guy from SoCal

Post by BitPusher »

Hello everyone. Been lurking for a little while and finally decided to sign up. Raced on road oval with my 10L and later 10LSS in San Diego back in the early 90's. Always wanted to own and race an RC500, but back then as a middle school student with a job that paid $3.75 an hour that never was possible.

A month or so ago I found myself cruising ebay for that elusive RC500 and bought a belt 2wd for sale at a reasonable price. Decided it needed a ground up restoration and saw that parts are available but man everybody wants top dollar for them. I have a 3d printer and a sherline cnc mill. I always wanted to become proficient with solidworks, why not kill two birds with one stone and make this a passion project. Learn how to put the entire RC500 into cad, make replacement parts for myself, and anybody else that could use some. Help a community keep a great car running. With G30, carbon fiber, nylon, and other 3d printable materials available today it's a great time for making our own parts.

Look forward to sharing progress as time goes on and joining some conversations. I wanted to share a pic or two of what I have done so far but my images are like 5mb in size and too big to attach. What do you guys normaly do to share photos?

On my mobile, when I am attaching pics at the bottom
Of the screen it shows the image size. If you click choose you can select “large” and it will reduce them for you

Welcome to the forum! On my laptop, I open my images from my camera with paint. There is an option at the top to resize. I reduce my pixal size to 800x600. Works great.

Thank you all for the welcome and the pic tips. I appreciate it. After I cad a part as close to identical as I can, I then print it out in low quality PLA to test its fit. Here's what I got so far. Sorry for bad pics, I have horrible lighting and i'm not a good photographer.
