Since I had a lot of parts laying around, i figured to try and built an shaft driven mx-4. The MX-4 has always been my favourite looking car. The used parts are either from different brands or self designed and built. Chassis is laser cut from aluminium and carbon shock towers are custom as well. Here it is next to my original mx-4.

How did you convert it from belt drive?

I bought a modern donor car, made a custom chassis to fit the lexan undertray of the mx4 body. Then put everything together.
It isn't as simple as described, but it comes down to that.

Errr... That sounds almost like 'I put an mx-4 body on a newer car'?

I understand it might sound like that. But everything has been changed to make it all fit under this body. The only parts that I used from this donor car is the front and rear gearbox with the center dogbones. Almost everything else is custom made.
You could say it isn't vintage anymore.

The main purpose of this car was to make something that could compete with modern cars, whilst still looking vintage. There was minimum extra cutting of the body needed.
It also resolved the problem of a lot of useless spare parts....

There is not really one donor car. However the majority of parts are kyosho lazer zx6.6. Other used parts are from tekno eb410, trf 501x and losi 22-4 shocks.
