Check out the yokomo timeline. Essentially yes most of the suspension layout was extremely similar from the 870c to 91/93 cars with subtle but important changes. The biggest difference was that the arms changed length and the wheel offsets are different. The later yz10 changed the front end quite a bit.

So 870c could easily be converted to 91?

Well the chassis shapes are different but you could put 91 stuff on the 870 chassis with the same bulkheads. The chassis layout is the same.

Ok I was just curious! I'm looking at a NIB 91 works on ebay but 1500 seems steep to me but maybe not as I don't really know anything about them.

NIB will be pretty high, as well the 91 and for that matter, anything from 91-93 is hard to find in the states, so it's not unexpected. the 870c is still pretty high value too, so it's really how much you want one. I'd probably not open a NIB car, but that's just me. I need to get off my butt and build my couple of basket case 870c units.

You're honestly better off building up an 870c than spending big bucks on a Works '91. As it is, the' 91 is a bit of a collector's item and NIB YZ10s always go for big bucks. Also, the '91 has some unique weak spots (2mm pitch belt, rear hub carriers) which don't translate to the other cars in the series.

I have runners of the 870C, Works '93, '94 YZ10, and '95/'97 YZ10. The 870C is awesome with the right setup, and all of the Works models are based on the 870C platform, so there is a lot of intercompatability with the parts. Talk to Brian Marquez and he can hook you up with carbon repro parts for all of the plate pieces. It's also worth picking up some YR4 nylon bulkheads if you can find them. They're stronger than the magnesium bulkheads, although you will have to do a bit of dremeling for fitment.

I was actually thinking about having my buddy make some aluminum bulkheads for the 870c.
