New old guy from Arizona.

Post by AzSonicSnake »

Hello all!

I am not sure why I've never joined this site, but anyhow, here I am. I have been in the hobby since 1990 when I was 11 and my first vehicle was actually a jrx2 with associated shocks and an rc10 body. Heck, it was a collection of parts that my Dad had bought for me to see if I liked the hobby after playing with R/C boats for years and loving my Futaba Candy.

I have raced on and off since then but always had love for the hobby and have driven my share of both AE and Losi vehicles. Though I always end up back at AE stuff. I have raced primarily at SRS from their hayden and curry location to scottsdale and thomas and their last known spot on greenway. Warehouse3 on peoria and 19th ave was where I got back into things more recently and I raced their other location at cactus and 75th before closing up. Currently I am a regular in the short course division at Hobby Action R/C raceway.

I am getting more interested in the vintage stuff with the recent aquisition of my father's entire R/C collection. He always ran Associated stuff and tended to buy out hobby shops in central Illinois when they were closing up. One of those notably being Marty's R/C where I started racing. My Dad has been more into his model trains here in the past decade and when I was home helping my aunt move to Arizona my Dad boxed everything up and told me to take it with me. I questioned him on it and he told me, you can either take it now, or get it when I die. Kinda morbid, but I got his point. He told me I could sell it off or what not, but honestly I have found the memories tied to it all have made that nearly impossible. I have moved a few things, but most the vehicles won't be leaving my hands. Included in that are a complete Andy's chassis rc10, rc10 team car, a converted rc10ds and 1 of every truck associated made in the 90's and early 00's.

I am stoked to read and see the builds here and seeing what I can add from my 30 years in this wonderful hobby of ours! Thanks for having me!
