New built 44B with Race Prep arms, JG Kydex, and Proline wheels and tires.

Cool resto. I had no idea what that was and had to Google it...you might want to update your title with Hirobo Rock'n City or something.

Very nice indeed , what body are you going to fit , the rockn city , rockn veyga or the truck body ? , my vote would be the city ! But the Veyga is pretty chunky looking( in a good way) as well . I've never seen those race prep arms before so they must be like hens teeth !
Is it going to be run or displayed ? I'm guessing she's going on a shelf but if you decide to run her I'd refit the stock arms , the arm mounts on the transmition case at the front often shear off in an impact and with stiffer arms its a greater risk .

I'm thinking I'll use either the McAllister Wildcat II or a Bolink Funco. I'll never run this one.

Very cool build. I remember those as a kid, local hobby shop had one on display for years, a guy bought it and ran it a couple times at our local track I would always go to his pit spot and drool over it..

It would look great with the Bolink Funco body !

Hi, I just acquired a rockn city in a sorry state. The chassis plate and belt cover are bent in a 'nose up' position and I think they should be straight and flat. Is your base plate straight?

Hmm, 44b seems to have been the core chassis for several hirobo models; City, Vega and so on (according to wikipedia etc.) with a few variations in materials, ie a mild steel chassis plate on my 'City' but fibre glass alternatives for other models or later productions. the mild steel bends easily as does the aluminium belt cover. There's potential for some reinforcing bars to be fitted or even cut a new chassis plate from something stronger.
On the face of it, 44b models and zerda have 'the same' suspension arms but close inspection reveals some differences at the shock absorber anchoring points. The length of the arms might vary between some models as I've got a rogue length suspension arm in the spares box from an unknown model.
I guess Hirobo were learning from experience and feedback from customers. Good to keep some of these puppies alive, approx 36 years since production. Plenty of spares now appearing on ebay and being consumed by current owners it seems. So not all are shelfers, I want the Zerda to have the occasional outing and the Rockn City will hopefully get a run around the cul de sac soon.

There was a 2wd Hirobo as well , someone did a thread on it last year but the name escapes me the odd length arm could be for the 2wd model ?

The bearcat and tomcat were 2wd models apparently. Correction to earlier post the 44b chassis is aluminium but as well as straightening I got a GRP one from an eBay seller. The rockn city manual parts list shows parts for Baja and Lancia bodies. The Hilux truck version has a shortened chassis. I just got some generic body shells for 4 quid each which will require some body mount adaption. They'll look as good as the city or Baja bodies which aren't great in my opinion. And I won't cry when they get damaged.....
New tyres from an Australian seller went on some wheels I had with the zerda.
Take note that 44b front suspension arms are slightly different length to zerda hence parts ct1 and zr1 apply.
