traded off a emax today
for a hpi trophy truggy ,parts evader, and parts rc10 buggy
really only wanted the rc10 but guy wanted my emax so took the lot lol
this 10 is interesting
overall its a junker
but it has some goodies
first is the front laydown shock setup (rear also )
then it also has a really nice set of alloy rims
any ideas if the laydown shock setup was a upgrade , or is it just some home made gear

that car was probably set up as a sprint car/oval/modified something like that with the wheels tires and lowering kit.
the wheels are probably advance racing, but it's hard to say for sure(at least for me). very cool nonetheless.

thanks for the info
looks like I will be taking these 2 apart and building 1
ill hopefully use the rims and laydown shock setup
just need to figure out tire im guessing ill have to go with foams , since the rims are smooth on the tire mount side

well got the 10 with laydown shock setup all torn down , im going to try and rebuild it with spares I have in my parts bins , and leave the complete one for a clean and resto
we will see
so far previous owner didn't do me any favors
first is was ran to hell and only had brass bushings, trans only has the plastic ones
and they used some sort of epoxy to lock the slipper
so this trans is pretty toast

I'm wondering if soaking the diff assembly in acetone will dissolve the epoxy and allow you to salvage the metal parts. Might be worth a try rather than just tossing them in the trash.

I might try that but its pretty far gone the ring and top washer is bent up bad and does not look like any diff balls are left . I may just stick it in the parts bin until I really need a trans lol
did get the chassis cleaned up filled the deep scratches and sanded it smooth them painted , the gold I used is not a close match at all but this is going to be a runner so really don't care to much
and since I cant find my ultrasonic parts cleaner looks like its time to start the long process of cleaning all the plastic bits lol

blah , really missing my ultrasonic parts cleaner
its been some time since I did a rebuild and didn't use new parts
really not enjoying cleaning the white parts lol
(note to self buy wife new toothbrush before she gets back from her trip lol)
overall the parts are coming along ok , not perfect but oh well good enough

Looks okay to me. It's going to be a runner, right? If you're like me, when the build is made too pristine, then I'm reluctant to get it dirty.
BTW, I'm liking what you've done to replace the anno on those aluminum parts. Inspiration for a future build that will use some not-so-perfect pieces. Looks good.

idk if im going to be able to use the rear rims , finding foams wide enough may be a problem

Well, I guess you could cut them down. Why are they so wide? I don't recall even 1/8th scale road cars having wheels that wide.
Reminds me of this:

I was thinking about cutting them down , but I don't have a lathe or cnc . and using my chop saw with a metal blade would work but getting them the same and balanced may be hard .
ive never seen wheels this wide lol they almost look like the cardboard roll inside toilet paper lol
the more I think about it im probably just going to hit my wheel/tire box and see if I have anything that will work , and shelf the alloy wheels until I can figure out what to do

I think the wheels and tires are from an old Advance kit. Sort of a pan car..... Can't think of what they were called.
