I couldn't resist this for $8. Of coarse with shipping it will be about $22, but that's ebay. I have no idea what it is, but it comes with a battery and charger and it supposedly all works. It's worth it just to see what it is if nothing else.
Anybody have any idea what it is?

Ok thanks scr8p.

I will post some pics. MRP? That doesn't ring any bells for me. Have to look into that.

they made rc boats, hydro planes. you never seen the mrp miss budweiser hydro plane? anyways, they made a budweiser indy car and a budweiser stock car, loooooooooooong time ago. the front end on that indy car, from my memory, looks similar. they also made lexan bodies.

Oh yeah, now that I see the package I remember it. I didn't know they made the Mis Budweiser hydro though. Cool!

Huh, did they ever make a nitro Indy car? Because now that you mention it, I remember a nitro vs electric indy car story in RCCA a looooong time ago. They both had Budweiser bodies I think.

I haven't had any luck finding anything out about this car. I can't find anything usefull about MRP on the net, anyone have any clue were to find info about MRP? This thing is definately old! The chassis looks like a cross between fiberglass and some kind of wood particle board. When I got it I thought the chassis was a home-made repair job, but after taking it apart I think it is actually the original. The screws look like something you would find on a lawn mower, but I think they are the right ones. I am working on cleaning it up right now, when I get it done I will post some pics. I'm hoping one of you guys can help me figure out what it is, because I have no idea.
The radio that came with this is pretty sweet, I think I'm gonna put it in my GT resto. It's an Aristo-Craft/Hi-Tec Challenger-2PX. It looks cool and is in very good condition for the age. It still has the protective film on all the badges. It powers up, but I haven't actually tested it yet. It's gona be for a shelf queen anyway, so even if it doesn't actually work it will work for the purpous.

IIRC, the AristoCraft radio was, at the time, a very low-end copy of the Futaba, Kraft and Airtronics AM radios. My brother had one on his first Tamiya Subaru Brat. Outside of the brown plastic, I think it worked pretty well for him. I do remember they were VERY inexpensive.

Hmmm, I don't remember Hi-Tec ever being a copy of Futaba or Airtronics, maybe that was a little before my time. It doesn't look like a cheap copy of anything, it actually looks like it is pretty good quality. It doesn't matter anyway, it isn't going to get used, it's just for looks. It's old and it still looks good, so it will do the job just fine.

Yup, the AristoCraft Challenger was the Magnum Jr. knock-off in the early 80s. Did all the same things at about half the store price. Still was a decent radio, though. My brother raced with it for years (until he broke it).

Justin, It is definitely a MRP (Model Racing Products). Nice snag, I would have been all over it myself.
In the early days of MRP they were into 1/8th scale racing, going up against the likes of the Associated RC500. I am still searching for more info on the history. As 1/10 and 1/12 became more popular they changed their focus to those scales. MRP was probably most known for the Pro-110 Off road buggy and the 1/10 Pan Car the GP-10 (I post pics of those if you like). This is part that I am not 100% sure of the timeline.... MRP/Jerobee/JoMac have a history. I am not sure which was first... I believe it was JoMac to Jerobee to MRP with the changing of hands of ownership/names/etc. When MRP went under (not sure when) I know that Proline bought or took possession of the MRP lexan body molds.
That is the extent of what I think I know (have not been able to contact the correct source to back that up yet, but give me time). Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info mrlexan. I knew somebody must have seen one of these before. This car is going back on ebay in the next couple of days. Unfortunately I am in a severe money crunch right now and will be selling most of my RC's.
