1985 MIP Transmission help

Gentlemen......I was referred to this site from Associated RC and MIP.

I have a 1984 RC10 with a MIP trans that I installed in '85. I used to race the S Cal circuit from 85-91 and love my buggy, modified with Hot Trick and MIP. I quit racing in '94 and moved to Indiana and put my buggy on the shelf. 9 months ago I pulled it down and started to race it again at the local track. Last week I spun the trans gears.....they are brass and are completely worn out. I contacted MIP and Eustace looked in his shop, garage and everywhere but was unable to help me with replacement parts, so he referred me to you guys.

I am in need of the gear set for it, or a replacement trans. I contacted Associated RC about the Stealth trans and they no longer carry it and also referred me to this site.

So.....anyone have X XXX XXX XXX XX,XX, information as to what trans to go to now. I've been flying RC for the past 24 years and am a little out of touch concerning buggies. I do not want to purchase a new buggy, just get this one running again.

Thank you for any input you guys have.

Jeff at Factory works has the A&L Leathal Weapon belt drive trans. Getting parts for a stealth is not as easy as it used to be and MIP parts are a rare find.

Hi,

If you have the SP-1, you can use a Tamiya Sand Scorcher top shaft and the idler gear, but theses are getting hard to

find too.

Gears from the later SP1 transmission are compatible with the T100 case.

Has any one found a replacement for the ball diff gear?

Does anyone know how many teeth it is?

:)

Besides the standard stealth trans I second the A&L lethal weapon trans for what you after. I've run several of them over the years and they are easy to maintain and parts are readily available now that A&L has been revamped into Factory Works and is up and running again in Oregon.

Thanks for all your help.

Now I'm looking for a manual to rebuild the rear diff. I saw one online once as a photocopy....but don't see it anymore. Anyone have a link?

Thanks, again for your help,
Dave

All the gears from a Tamiya's SRB trans will fit including the modern re-re ball diff if you can find one. You will have to cut down the shafts the drive cups attach to, since they're wider than they need to be, but it's an easy mod.
