Bormac's TRX-1 runner - HELP
Without having to read back through every post I was hoping those in the know could assist me on this long time project.
I have had a new built car for many years which I purchased from a fellow member here but also picked up a well used (and a bit abused) ex track car. I've rebuilt with a new motor plate and utilised the RABORN slipper I got nip.
What I'm after is a decent SS screw kit, the correct length tie rods (Lunsford) maybe and possibly some hints on how to get the white parts white again and or pick up replacement/new white parts.
The shocks. Is it possible to purchase new or like new blue alloy caps for these, mine are very shabby.
Thanks in advance, Jason.

I'm pretty sure the shock caps are available pretty easily.
https://www.amainhobbies.com/traxxas-aluminum-shock-cap-blue-2-tra2760/p14867
your best best is to study the parts list and check ebay for parts. there a few trx1 specfic parts but others were used a few models and so it can be easier to find certain things.
I'm trying to figure out how to add the pdf files I have, and zipping them isn't working. You can PM me your email address and I can send them along.
lunsford should carry any length turnbuckles you need, and try team KNK for screws.

Hi Jason,
if this helps - a B4 turnbuckle kit is pretty darn close to stock for a TRX-1 - some minor dremeling is needed.
Joe's method is still better, though - then you can get the exact, right lengths.

works pretty good. In my experience the traxxas parts whiten faster than the AE which of course pry means they are less nylon in the mix. I'd watch them close since my 2nd attempt went real fast and got them almost chalky white. That went down the road so I never got a chance to test them but I bet a 2x4 to the face they weakened when they got chalky like that

RC Screwz puts out a decent SS screw kit. Its for the TCP but it totally workz.
https://m.ebay.com/itm/TRAXXAS-TCP-1-10TH-BUGGY-RC-SCREWZ-STAINLESS-STEEL-SCREW-SET-TRA028-/201509958513
For reference.
EDIT: The only screw not in this kit is the little transmission plug screw for the differential adjustment hole. That little Phillips head self-tapper....

Re: Bormac's TRX-1 runner - HELP
I appreciate you gents helping me with advice. Thank you.
I read something about 'oxygenated water' to clean white parts on the TRX-1. Is this for real and what is it and how to use the product to get the right results?

Re: Bormac's TRX-1 runner - HELP
My ambition is to enter a TRX-1 in the 2WD modified class for our soon to be held Vintage 2 day festival. Yes I want it to look its best and be all white and look OEM but I also want to fortify it where possible to put up with my lack of driving finesse
. So I am interested in a brace that stretches across the two front inner hinge pins plus a top plate which stretches front to back possibly. New heavier duty shock towers too. I have the slipper installed already and may go to 2.2" rims also. Most likely yokomo pink ones to keep it looking old skool.
Any and all recommendations welcome.

I've made my own front hinge pin braces and used longer hinge pins out of a t-max set but don't know who makes a prefabbed one. I have seen CC top decks but expect to give up a kidney to get one or at least another 2x4 to the faceJ.M. wrote: ↑Fri Aug 31, 2018 5:17 pm My ambition is to enter a TRX-1 in the 2WD modified class for our soon to be held Vintage 2 day festival. I picked a top deck off the forum awhile back thinking it was the one needed but it turned out to be a losi set up. Since it was NIB without the tag telling us what it was it was a gamble that just didn't work out but it was cheap enuf so worth the effort at the time. You might be able to check with Jeff to see if he has anything drawn up for the CC trx1 upper deck...
I gave up my all white parted trx1 several years ago to a member here and the traxxas board I know well since he wanted the same thing...to race an all white trx1. Most of the parts were NIP that sat on a display car but most did the same thing...break easily. So, if this car holds any sentimental value to you you might wanna rethink it...just sayin'

Re: Bormac's TRX-1 runner - HELP
Thank you Todd.
Great advice. I'm really stuck on the white, as cool as the black still looks I gotta do the white thing. Maybe afterwards I'll build a full black car and have it going forward but I gotta experience it at least the once

Re: Bormac's TRX-1 runner - HELP
understandable Jason. Most everything I have I run so its one of those things. I know Sam ended up with a zebra of parts to get by and I think he did the same with the all black in the end....not really sure anymore what his final car ended up like. Maybe him or Dave can chime in if they run across this but I haven't seen them on the board in a long time.
Make sure to get pix of it because I gotta live my life through others at this point

If you're gonna run the white plastics, boil them at least, especially after a peroxyde bath.

Ok so I have procured a bottle of Peroxide. It states that its 3%. Does this mean I need to find a higher percentage of product of do I dilute this down further?
