Pink Panther Dirt Oval Steering Bellcranks

Post by Basher67 »

I couldn't help but show this abomination I just picked up in a collection. The pink panther driver was just too cool. Once You overlook the nightmare of a suspension geometry, there are some cool parts here. Novak servo, chassis that looks like the offspring of a pan car and a buggy, dirt oval type shock towers and a set of steering bellcranks that I've never seen before. Anyone recognize these? They appear to just clamp on to the pivot bearing.

Damn, you are sure finding a lot better deals down south that I can find up here!

The pink panther add on is awesome!

+1.

The chassis is one of Composite Crafts and the towers are by JG.

Are those CKW tires in the background capped...and do you have the complete set?

I manage to dig up some decent old junk now and then. This Came with a recent collection along with that early Custom Works car and 5 others including a gold pan, a 10T, a corally SP12, a B2 and a bunch of NIP bodies and tires including a few sets of the CKW front and rear for the RC10. Like with most vintage collections, it takes me a few weeks to sort through it all and I.D. the stuff I don't recognize. These bellcranks were a mystery to me. I have a bunch of Lavco equipment and a couple of early tekin chargers to sort out tonight. Biggest thing for me was the Novak servos and a couple Track master direct drive transmissions, 1 in carbon fiber, and 1 in aluminum.

I'm definitely going to salvage the driver here when I scrap this body. I'll find him a new ride. The Pink Panther will live on!

Nice, that's the sort of project I like to get hold of,

plenty of potential there!

The Pink Panther driver just tops it off!

I'm surprised no one commented yet on the motor's "brushless Conversion".

Definitely an interesting time capsule. I'm coveting those rear tires (Proline Flat Stubbies I think). I have a set and they hook-up great on my track.

In those days, running brushless and pneumatic motor bearings were a speed secret.
