ReRe Worlds....what to do...

First of all it's been a VERY long time since I've been on this site.... WOW looks like Ive missed a lot!
So I picked this up new and built it to this point a couple years ago. Since then it's just kinda been hanging around the shop waiting for a purpose. I was gonna run it as is, but I'm not much of an off-road racer, and with the limited time that I get to actually race, I'd rather stick to my first love; dirt oval!
So a couple weeks ago I was at a track that I hadn't been to in years. Sometime since my last visit, a buggy-chassis, buggy-tire EDM class has cropped up and had a very large turnout.....I immediately started thinking about the ReRe Worlds....

Put re-re worlds on shelf and pick yourself up a good used RC10 to run.

Dumb question, why shelve a re-re? I was thinking they were worth less than an original?

I always wonder the same thing. I can understand putting good original car on the shelf but re-re's are meant to be driven.

Thanks! I'll check our Flickr. Just thinking out loud, will photos hosted on Facebook show up as long as they're public?
Many moons ago I painstakingly found all the parts to build a pristine OG JRX-2, which was my first real race car. Was going to make it a shelf queen. I got 98% done and realized that shelfers weren't really my thing, so I sold it to someone who hopefully enjoyed it. If you have an unused Edinger or original World's car....by all means I'm for only displaying them. But...IMO, other cars are meant to be built and ran or raced. It is their destiny

. Especially the ReRe Worlds....

Geesh $460 for a re-re??? My local hobbytown had them on the shelves forever for $130, my friend and I picked up the last of the ones they had just as cheap kits to build, heck I still have an unbuilt one I saved for a rainy day. I guess I was under the impression that nobody really wanted them as collectors.

Amain had them for 189.99 at the end selling them out.

Welcome back to RC10 talk!
I picked one at a decent price cuz better remorses than regrets... glad I did indeed (even if I have like half a dozen original worlds car in the pipeline for rebuild... you never know

)
Having said that... by the time you get a decent used RC10 back to top running condition, it will have costed you some money anyway. So I say, build your re-re, and run it like it was meant to be!

It's only new once and you can get a decent used car for a lot less. If your not worried about collector value by all means run it, but they will only appreciate in value.
If you use the same logic the originals were meant to be run too.

Fixed the image hosting in the first post....I think.
If I cared about resale value, I'd invest in gold not RC cars.

$460? When did that happen? Now I don't want to open mine up.

$460 was RRP... they never sold for that to start with. Street price was between $150 and $250.
If you find one NIB today they sell for $300-ish...
