Picked this up today and could really use some help tracking down the components of this car. The previous owner, who owned a hobby shop in Ontario, Ca way back when, told me that the body and exhaust are hand made one of a kind, which is why I couldn't find one online. He told me that bitd, 1970 +/-, kits were sold as components mostly. So you would buy this suspension kit and that engine and a rear diff/ trans from somewhere, etc. He said he purchased this car on the suggestion of his father-in-law, who is some famous custom rc car builder of the time, and he doesn't know the brands or origins of all the components. He said the 2 speed rear diff/trans was a big deal back then. He mentioned that there is a book called "Miniature Race Cars" or something to that effect that describes and lists all the different components available back then. The history behind some of this stuff is awesome!
So from what I can see for myself, I think the wheels are from Dynamic Models and the engine is a Taipan. It wouldn't surprise me to find the super thick phenolic chassis is a handmade piece. The suspension was supposedly a kit. I have no idea of the maker of the rearend. Any one who has any info or sources of info or even a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
Hope you guys enjoy the pics.

I forgot to add in my original post--- The car weighs 6 lbs, 9.2 ounces and the body alone weighs just a hair over 1 lb.

I went thru my books and some are too old, some too new. This one by the legendary George Siposs in ‘74 is the closest I found to your era. Couple pics for you

Looks like it wants to be a 1968 STP Indy Car

That "gearbox in that second pic looks like the same one in this car. I'm debating on removing it to see if I can find a brand or # or something on it that isn't exposed. Scary doing anything to a car like this---don't want to damage anything. I'm going to come up with a good sound game plan before I touch it. I would love to polish the body and exhaust.

True, but it does verify for me that the suspension was a store bought component and not home made. Now I just need to find name brands of the day. I see alot of time in front of the computer in my near future. The info is out there somewhere. I just have to find it.

All my books are ex-library so I wouldn’t doubt most of them suffered the same fate. Might check some of the groups on Facebook

Have a look at the Ra/Car literature. See if the identification lines up.

I've seen more pictures of the car but this is the only clear pictures I can locate readily. On the far right.
