It's back to the 80's - or What to do with a Trackmaster belt drive

This was my winter project, an RC10 built with mostly vintage aftermarket hop-ups. The only Associated RC10 parts on the car are the front stub axles. The major upgrades are the mid-motor Trackmaster belt drive w/Raborn rear arms and Losi half shafts, McAllister lowering kit, Andy's front arms, RPM rear bulkhead, Sassy Chassis steering, a NIXconcepts aluminum chassis, blue Dhawk alloy pieces, and the only 'new tech'' parts - big bore Integy shocks.
I'd like to express my thanks to jwscab for the aluminum bracket that mounts the body mount to the belt drive and GoMachV for the fiberglass body mount/bulkhead brace. Anybody using Trackmaster transmissions might want to contact these guys, as the Trackmasters have no provision for a brace from the manufacturer.

That is one intimidating looking car.

Awesome. Reminds me of the old wedge car days. The only mid-motor config I had back then was my trackmaster equalizer oval car.

I have a set of HPI Super Star wheels with foam tires for it. With a couple shorty battery packs and a stout brushless motor, it should scoot... Still haven't decided on a body yet.

Andy (Andy's Paint) just acquired a lot of his old molds, and he's ramped up the vintage production. He might have what you're looking for in clear or painted.

That small bracket for the trans was a big deal for the build.

I would like to see some close ups of that transmission. It is pretty cool looking.

These were pics from the original ebay ad. The trans consists of 2 side plates - they made aluminum and carbon fiber, a ball diff, a top shaft w/spur gear, and a cogged belt. Bolts to standard RC10 bolt holes and can be run as rear or mid-motor. The drive cups are made for dog bones, but I swapped those for Losi slider half shafts. I also added a bracket to mount the front for the brace/body mount. Trackmaster also makes a similar direct-drive trans w/diff.

I used to have the belt drive in my dirt oval car and it was awesome. They actually "outlawed" it in stock class at the local track growing up cause I was so match faster than all the stock cars and they deemed it unfair.
I acquired a car not too long ago that has the direct drive transmission. I was going to make a dirtoval car out of that at some point...

GoMachV makes a nice copy of the Trackmaster oval chassis and jwscab makes a bracket to mount a brace between the trans and rear bulkhead.

I never have been a fan of oval racing. But I'm a huge fan of the way dirt oval RC car chassis look. Nice cars guys

They just added a dirt oval to a track near me and I'm geared up to try. But based on their classes, not sure which one I want. Most classes seem to make you run stock chassis/suspension without any custom mods. Batseries must be centered... Etc. So may go RC10 Sprint car, but I still can't use my trackmaster direct drive.
