Crazy home remedys! Do you have any?

Hi all,
I met a new neighbor about 2 months ago, of Croatian descent not that that matters.
Anyway long story short, in conversation, he asked about my health and I told him about the bad pains in my stomach and that when I go to the toilet my stool looks unhealthy and stinks the whole house out.
I told him I had 2 uncles die of bowel cancer in their early 50's and I expected the worst, but I have no trust in doctors at all!
He told me you aren't going to believe me, and then he told me about an old family remedy,
Low odour Kerosene,

After researching the subject, I started taking 1 teaspoon, 1 hour before breakfast and again 1 hour before the evening meal, 7 days on, 7 days off and then 7 days on again, then stopping altogether.
3 days after starting the treatment, a pleasant side effect! I was walking down the road whistling, I remember thinking what the hell are you whistling about?
Bloody hell! I had no back pain at all, for the first time in at least 10 years!, after stopping the treatment the back pain returned but now only 50% of what it had been, I am thinking about starting the treatment again to see how the back pain goes, also now my stool looks healthy and has very little smell, on a stool chart it is the best!
