Hi there,

I recently obtained a KITTS K80 and was hoping someone had some more information on the unit! i.e. specs and when it was made!

Thanks in advance :)

Well, I was searching some picture of my Graphite RC10 with its K80 in heat shrink tube at home tonight... and discovered this old post via Google Image.

So K80 Magic was a speed control circa 1889. Kitts is the maker. Maybe made in Korea.

- I used to have one, bought in 1989 to replace a Futaba MC116 damaged by water
- Used by MRC French distributor's drivers in their Santana buggies
- Enough powerful for modified motors in 4x2 or 4x4 class of this time
- No heat dissipators with this speedo in the box (yours seem to be from TEKIN or TEKIN like)
- Not high frequency
- Price tag similar to other top range of this time (but discounted price was possible where my father and I purchased it)
- Can't remember what the third potentiometer in was intended to do >>> Sorry, that's just a LED for neutral and top speed tune
- Easy to rewire power wires (I did it several times)

Good looking ESC with this gold label and those heat sink. Don't you think so?

Hi Anthony,

Thank you for the information! Late 80’s sounds about right and it’s nice to have some confirmation.

Cheers!

Very cool looking piece. Good anesthetics. That counts for a lot. I love vintage Novak stuff, but I've never liked the color orange much, so I always prefer the stealth look of vintage Tekin.

My K-80 Magic-R looks to be in the same case, just with a different decal covering some of the openings.

It came to me with individual heat sinks for the FETs.

Interestingly, it looks like a small black heat shrink band on a white motor wire is intended to identify that as the negative motor wire (W/B).
