Stay away, those engines were terrible.

Something like this is better in my opinion even though it is only ABN cylinder construction.

I would even give this a try over the Traxxas engine.

9 times out of 10 the locked engine can be cleaned up and put back together. If you haven't seen this already here is a Hyper .12 engine I cleaned up that was locked solid. You dont have to go to the extremes I went to to get your engine running.

Great info. I'll tear down the engine and give the heat gun a try.

Heat gun is only used to remove bearings. I would pour a little WD40 or nitro fuel in the crank case and let soak for a few hours. A bit on top of the piston would help too.

Got the engine down to short block and used WD-40 . After work I will work on it. This AE.15 has a SG crank ? I found some clutch nuts # 7602 and 7603 at local hobby shop 5 bucks for both. So I ordered that $39.00 dollar engine from tower .

All freed up , cleaned and reassembled with new o-rings and rear case gasket from OS. Engine is very tight to turn but ran a tank of fuel threw it on a bench stand with a mc59 plug and needles adjusted per the manual. Started a ran fine with a few pulls. It was just gummed up with old fuel that looked like tar both in the needles and piston . How do I keep it from getting gummed up again ? Stupid question but I am new to nitro.

Just run the engine out of fuel when you are finished for the day. Drain the tank and keep starting the engine till it no longer kicks, only takes about a minute or so.

You can use after run oil after if you like, it just protects the steel crank and bearing from rusting when you put it away. 6 -7 drops down the glow plug hole and a few down the carb is all you need, pull the engine over a few times and your done.

A few basic tips with nitro you always want to see smoke in the exhaust, if you can't hold the head for about 5 seconds it's too hot (220f is about the temps you want to see)

Engine is all tuned in on my test stand. I am sure I will have to do a little tuning when I get it in the GT and put it under a load. Thanks for your info on the engine and the runnig temps. Broke the pull start twice and went with a tiger drive S-702 . Had to do some dremel work on bushing inside the case as it was pressed in to far causing a bind to the drive gear .
