Two NIB 90's Oddballs

I got into RC in the late 90's at about 10 years of age. I remember reading RC Car Action and being drawn towards the colourful illustrations and descriptions of many kits of that period. Gas powered models fascinated me the most - as a child I was only allowed to have a Nikko Humvee which my parents graciously bought for me.

Looking back, one kit which particularly sparked my imagination was the Kyosho Wheelie Action Hoppin' Mad. As a kid the words Wheelie and Action together were enough to make me beg for one, and the nitro engine was the cherry on top. Unfortunately for me, incessant nagging did not work in my favour and I was left to play with the Nikko.
Around the same time the Kyosho ATV Quad Rider came out. It was big, gas powered, had a real chain-drive system and I wanted it. Again, no dice.

I got a Traxxas Rustler a year or two later for my birthday, and forgot about those two kits; they were probably discontinued at that point anyway. Luckily for me, I was able to acquire them 16 years later. I'm not sure if I should build them or keep them NIB, but I'm glad I have them. Nostalgia overload.

They will sit on a shelf next to an original T-Maxx and an RC10GT, two of my other late 90's/early 2000's heroes.

Cheers for reading!

I remember seeing the Kyosho quad rider on display at my hobby shop long long time ago just about when I got my first RC10

Love both of them! The quad rider is awesome :)

If you want the EP version of the wheelie car to nicely complement the collection, just PM me

That quad rider always looked and still looks good scale wise. Would've been cool if a racing class would've started up.

They do look awesome - the proportions are pretty spot on. I have read they handle pretty badly out of the box due to the inherently high CG and being underdamped in the rear end causing a lot of pogo action..

I love that ATV but only in electric but I suppose it wouldn't be as realistic as nitro so nitro it is.
