I've just built this 10T. Some help gearing a 11x3 please

Post by mamadoesntletme »

Hi guys. I've finished this rc10t. I plan to run it, slight bashing only, since the track here is astroturf. I won`t use lipos and motor is a Fantom (Epic) 11x3.
It has a 81T duratrax spur gear, any ideas with pinion? 18-20 teeth?

I know, initially I thought about it. But I had to make holes in the chassis and file the nose plate.. So for the center screw I used a steel good quality screw, and for the steering the usual asso screws, all 3 with red Team Durango thread lock, which is quite strong, I hope it handles well.

I would try 15/84 or 14/81, this gives you a 12.6 or 13.0 final drive.

You can drill and cut down buggy nose tubes to make truck tubes.
I was old school - when old school wasn't cool !

To reinforce it with the nose tubes, is just not possible..no room for them.

I'm gonna use a 17x2 Warlock motor I found, I guess I won`t have to use a so small pinion. Any ideas for gearing?

probably 18 tooth or so gets you in the ballpark.

yeah, that nose will bend pretty easy if you are going to be hitting any jumps or the potential front end collisions. use a buggy nose tube which might need a trim, and those mounts flipped inward and place them further back on the chassis.

to get more room, the other option is to go back to buggy bell cranks in the forward holes, since most truck guys feel they work better, less twitchy than the longer truck bell cranks. still need to flip those mounts inward though.

If you have an old chassis to cut, you can try this to brace your chassis:

that's a nice idea. you can find a mangled, cut, chopped, drilled chassis pretty cheap and even then, that section of the chassis is usually in good shape.

Thanks guys! You too,THUNDERSTRIKE1, for your advice.

I think I´ve found an easier solution: a C stamp

Interesting point, that Xtreme Racing carbon chassis is like 2 mm longer that alum. chassis.

Nice truck. I use an 81T spur, and a 20T pinion for higher turn motors. An 18T pinion would be a good start for an 11t motor, I would assume.

Very nice truck! Where/how did you get those pink RC10T decals?
