Back in Black (Mostly original 6)

Hello 10 talkers...It's been awhile since I've posted anything here. My local track closed, and life took me in another direction. Recently, I was digging through my spare parts and found I only needed a chassis tub and some odd pieces to build another car. I wanted to retire my six gear as a shelf queen, but even though the chassis is straight, it's not show quality (as the pics will show). So I've decided to build a shelfer using original the original 6 gear parts, a few minor upgrades, and a new re-re worlds chassis tub (since I already have a black nose and motor plate). The gold pan will be used with re-re parts to build my street basher (I'll post that one in the appropriate thread).
Here's the start:

- chassis 1

- chassis2

- chassis3
Here's the only "mods" that I'm using. RPM front arms, Andy's rear arms, Original Worlds steering crank and 3/16" axle conversion. I ran these mods when I raced the car on the dirt oval.

- mods
Basically, the goal is to rebuild the car as it was raced, but with a show quality chassis. Updates as they happen.

The gearbox hasn't been touched since I stopped racing about 2 1/2 years ago. It felt a little rough, and I discovered the E clip holding the idler pin had come loose.
A new clip, a couple of fresh bearings, and she's ready to go.

The shocks were pretty scarred and the anodizing was worn. I decided to strip them using oven cleaner and polishing them with a dremel. Not bad overall, but some flaws in the metal were a bit more obvious.

A shot of the work bench. Looks like the Associated graveyard...........
The chassis has arrived. Progress is being made. Personally, I think the chassis should have been milled AFTER it was anodized, to give it some depth, but it's better looking than the old stock one. Also, I put in a new battery cup, since it's a shelfer. The original one was trimmed out to fit hard pack Lipos.
Time to crank up the tunes and get to work..........

Ok...Electronics are in, wheels are on, and body mounted. I know it's just another run of the mill RC10,

but it's my shelf queen. Nothing is going to waste, because I needed the gold chassis to build a runner for terrorizing the neighborhood.

....Enjoy.

Thanks guys... I really wanted to keep the car all original, but as you saw, the chassis was just too beat up from racing to keep on display.
