My brother and I pulled our Gold Pans out of moth balls after 22+ years of hibernation. My particular car is a Rc10CE with black parts and a stealth tranny. I have the 3 piece wheels from that vintage and I need new tires. The front wheels look to be about 2.5" in diameter and the rear looks more like 2.1" as in the pic below.



I am having trouble finding tires to fit both. Everything now looks to be 2.2" for the 1/10 scale buggies. I'd like to stay with the stock wheels. I tried to fit a set of Proline Dirt Hawg tires on the rear wheels, but they are just a bit too big for the wheels. Can anyone help take the confusion out of tires shopping for me? Or am I in a situation where I need to convert everything over to 2.2" wheels and glued on tires?

those wheels will have smaller tires, I believe 2.0" rears and 2.1" fronts.

ebay will have new old stock in the right sizes, there are also a few other places that still sell 2.0 sizes for rear. schumacher tires I believe.

it's really easy to pick up the new worlds wheels in 2.2" front and rear, or jcracing in the UK that are direct fit as well.

I would get new 2.2 wheels, as they are stupid cheap. Just make sure you get the right ones, for bearings in front, and you may have to order the "Worlds" ones online, they are the deep dish style. Then you can use anything new on the market.

On the Schumacher note, they make some of the best vintage style tires around. I recently got a few sets for my vintage cars.

Thank you both for the info. Schumacher looks to be UK, so not really worth the extra cost IMO. I guess the best play is to bite the bullet and upgrade the wheels. Then I can have a much better variety of tires available at a decent cost.

I mentioned my brother... His the naked Cadillac. My son has gotten involved as well. Hence why I grabbed a few rolling chassis' (my Edinger and Cadillac) on ebay recently.



The 3 that are rigged are running Associated SC600-BL Brushless ESC Speed Control & Reedy 3300kv Motor 540R. I may do something slightly different on the new buggy (any suggestions?), but that ESC and brushless motor setup I have so far has been more powerful than I can control. Especially on a 3S lipo battery. Planning to do bearing upgrades (wheels and trannys) on 3 of the 4 (the Edinger already has bearings). I've got a few other misc parts to replace as well... Transmission braces on the Edinger and Cadillac, Shock rebuild on my original RC10CE, upgrade to aluminum steering bell cranks on all 4, & upgrade wheels on my original RC10CE.

Edinger and Cadillac probably need tranny rebuilds. Both are slipping a good bit amount when you put the power to them. I'm sure they weren't ever intended for brushless power plants.

Those tires fit the smaller diameter 3 piece wheels that were on the Edinger and Cadillac vintage RC10's. But I need some of those as well actually. Thanks.

I went with these for my RC-10 Classic, know you didn't want to go to 2.2.....but hey its an option...

have to do a little bit of grinding for the rears to fit, the cotter key that holds the rear hubs on older RC-10's are a little bigger than the RC-10B4's

like I said, just another option

Shumachers are sold here in the US.

Readily accessible 2.1 fronts, the only real option are these.

They are Traxxas, for the Bandit.....I picked them up because Ean (the kid I'm making the RC-10 for) will be driving mostly on pavement.....couldn't see putting on a dirt tire to be worn off that much quicker.

I got a pair of these schueys

and they seemed to fit the 2.1 fronts better than 2.2's. The bead was too thick though, so I 'kinwalded' the rim (trimmed off the outer lip inside and out). I didn't try them on the 3 piece wheels.

Schumacher is one of the last companies to make really aggressive tires. I bought 4 sets of rears, two to use, and two for 1980-1990's shelf queens. Good period correct tires for the RC10 in it's day.

I also just got some of those Traxxas Bandit rear tires, rather aggressive compared to what everyone else offers.

In the attached photo from this post, what tires are those? I've been using street-dirt tires and my kid's been eating them alive. I'm going to have to go to the 2.2's myself and those looked grippy for asphalt and possibly tough enough to handle rough concrete?

Those are Traxxas Anaconda street tires.
